For people who haven't played through the first Hollow Knight, Dark Souls, or other punishing souls-like games, Silksong is probably not a great starting point. That said:

It's a great successor to Hollow Knight. There's a lot of love and attention put into the mechanics, design, and world. Every boss I've faced has felt fair, and learning their moves and beating them is incredibly satisfying. The high damage is challenging but I think the game is well-balanced around this (high mobility, tools/equipment, quick 3-mask heal). As the player, you are not expected to be able to beat everything immediately. Thoughtful use of tools and mechanics can substantially change a fight. If the boss is still too tough, go explore and maybe complete side quests. Some of the tougher bosses that I see people complain about are non-mandatory, so you can often ignore the boss completely until you feel ready.

The complaints about runbacks are valid but so far none have taken more than about 30-45 seconds of platforming (just finished Act 1).

It's a tough needle to thread (ha), trying to make something that new players can enjoy and that veteran Hollow Knight players won't quickly demolish. This game probably puts more focus toward appeasing the latter than the former, and it's accomplished it very well.

I've always looked for great detective games that scratch the itch of Her Story or Obra Dinn, and this has been one of the best-of-its-type yet. The interface is well-handled and the breadcrumbs are very enjoyable to investigate. I'm very happy with this purchase!

Great game with a fun demo that I played a lot of. Slay the Spire like with a clever dice mechanic. Lots of interesting ways to craft a build. This was an instant buy for me because the demo was so solid.

My first time with an auto-battler, having fun. However, as many have said, the server issue is currently very frustrating. Still giving a thumbs up, as the core game loop is good and I will trust that the server issues resolve shortly.

Update: Server issues fixed

Excellent sense of natural discovery and exploration. Gives you a small push in the right direction and leaves you to figure it all out yourself, traveling down whatever rabbit hole catches your fancy.
