I have yet to play more than an hour, but yes, I can definitely recommend this game, since I played countless hours when it was originally released!

I've noticed in the community that some people were having FPS issues, or other problems related to the cutscenes. For new players, and those that fail to look for fixes before shouting "bad port", without looking to the community hub first, here are links to two similar fixes, both seeking to accomplish the same thing... use whichever you would like.

I just would hate to see such an incredible game, one of the best I've ever played, one that is often touted among the best of all time, recieve negative reviews over something so trivial. So if you're here, (and I know a lot more reviews will start pouring in since it's free today). and having issues, before reviewing, stop, try to fix it yourself, then enjoy!

This game.... what can I say? It's difficult, and not in the "OMG THE ENEMIES ARE SO OP", Dark Souls kind of difficult,(not hating, I love DS), but the Oddworld kind. It has to be experienced. This platform adventure will require serious brain power, and you will need to really try if you want to succeed here... but when you do, it is oh, so satisfying. It will change your life for the better.

Mountain... I don't know. There are no words. It's a feeling, and even then, so alien to all I've ever experienced. This will now reside as my desktop live background, on all 4 TV's in my house, I've even set up remote access just so I can check in while away for a few minutes. I love Mountain, Mountain loves me. I grow as it does, I learn as it does, I exist, I become, as it does.

From what I had seen of this game, I thought it was a generic platformer... boy was I wrong. I loved every second of it, I started playing every level over and over (in hopes to find the secret room without a guide), it only took me 3 hours, lol. I hadn't realized you needed all the eggs collected.... but once I found it. Wow. Listen closely, let your ears be your guide.

9.5/10 - About as good as a platformer-puzzle game can get, with an awesomely bleak story to boot.

Don't let cute cardboard cut out ghouls fool you, this game gets creepier as you progress. While not at all scary, knowing there's something at your back at all times while you traverse 1000 floors sure keeps you on your feet!!

Just finished my first playthrough... 8 hours later!

Everything about this game kept me hooked...

I'm not much of a reviewer, I'm terrible actually, but this was all I hoped for and some. Everything I love about roguelikes AND JRPG's rolled into an awesome ASCII package, with an incredibly fitting soundtrack to boot! Incredibly well done, devs, I can see a ton of love went into making it what it is today.

Wow, just wow. I finished the game about an hour ago, but i just can't get the ending out of my head. Not only was it scary as all hell, the atmosphere often left the hairs on the back of my neck standing tall. I can only imagine how scary the world could be as a toddler, but the devs did a damn good job trying.

Not to mention, this hit so close to home for me, growing up in a torn family, there were many horrors in my adolescents, and I'm not ashamed that the ending left me in tears, I could sympathise so much with the character on the screen...

I fully recommend, the only negative I could find was it's brevity, though the ending pulled everything together so well, i can't knock it for that.
