A solid RPG that truly gripped me for the entire journey, despite a flawed and weak third act. Looking forward to the studios next game or even a refined sequel!

The similarities to Skyrim are readily apparent, but with several positive additions that made a a bit more fun to play rather than the aged gameplay of that 2011 title. Adding a dodge and parry were small additions that livened up the combat. While I stuck with a pure mage build during my entire run, respeccing was readily available, and the sheer variety of unique weapons and armor tempt me to do another playthrough, as the does the large variety of endings you could end up with.

Environmental and character art was on point even if the graphics are nothing to write home about. Voice acting ranged from great to adequate, The background lore and environmental storytelling also was gripping, the way they used Arthurian legends and adapted it to their own ends was quite intriguing.

Despite this, I have several quibbles that I would like to bring up for anyones future reference. Like many early access games, the first parts of the game are always the most polished, while the third act usually isn't introduced till right before or at release, which means that there is not a lot of time to give feedback and fix any last minute problems that might arise. Which is why, despite a strong first act and a solid 2nd, we wound up running through empty snowy fields in the honestly dull third act. While the Forlorn swords did look pretty, it felt pretty pointless to explore. It also did not help that a lot of broken quests and too few Arthur interjections made the last hours of the game feel less epic and more required. Thankfully it is pretty short, so players have the ability to rush through if they so choose.

For a first outing this was a solid game that did not overstay its welcome. I will look forward to whatever the developer creates next!

A fantastic and faithful remaster of what Valve the company it is today. I am happy that I was able to experience Half-Life 1 in all its glory.

Early Access Review
I like this survival game in comparison to others in the genre for three reasons.
1)I love the atmosphere, the love letter to Half-Life is prevalent and the story makes me want to keep playing
2)Gathering new materials to make all of the items is easy-peasy, no more scrounging around for everything
3)The level design is both complex and simple, while the levels are more complex, the amount of shortcuts and alternate routes that pop up make navigating a breeze.

While it is a bit glitchy with the occasional trouble disconnecting, I love what they're working with so far and can't wait to see what they have planned for the future.

Fantastic take on card battler/turn based game with a surpisingly solid story.

One issue though, real large tease for sequel that isn't probably happening :(

After decades of waiting and after just finishing the game, I'd say I haven't enjoyed and devoured an RPG as good and proper as Baldur's Gate 3. Thank you Larian for bringing everything I could have hoped for in a sequel and then some. This is a proud successor to this series of titanic RPGs

Solid strategy game. As a relative newcomer to SRPGs (has never touched Fire Emblem, for example) this was a great beginning and I can't wait to dive more into this genre.

I had a lot of fun customizing my squads, I was expecting a little more individual control of units on the battlefield, but it was still fun watching my squads get stronger as the missions rolled by. Overall difficulty was just right, with my army only winning some missions by the skin of their teeth. The mission variety was alright, even though I could have done without the 5th castle siege

Story was solid, no major twists or surprises, but still told competently realized. I liked the characters, even though I felt the conversations could have been expanded to allow some of the more neglected characters shine. The pixel art and animations of each unit were quite nice as well

After leaving some juicy plot hooks at the end of the game, I hope to see an eventual sequel that improves upon an already solid base game. Looking forward to the future Cheers!

A great hidden gem of an RPG, I throughly enjoyed this game for the 21 hours I played it.

Combat was a nice little twist on the classic Real Time with Pause system that most other RPGs contained. The ability to draw the area of effect of some abilities allowed for a lot of cool synergistic combos between characters. Each hero had a place, and while I stuck with the same four party members for most of the game, I could see myself coming back and trying out some different combination of characters to really see how the combat can change and evolve.

The only minus I might have for the combat is that the fights, especially later on after crafting some OP gear, could be autoplayed with little to no involvement from the player. Thankfully however, this was a minor quibble, because bumping up the difficulty easily solved it. The frequency of fights was just right as well, with no constant trash mob fights every two feet like some other CRPGs.

The real standout of the game, at least for me was the characters, setting, and story. While not incredibly deep characters, you could really feel after traveling the many floors of the tower the group forging bonds and working together as a cohesive party. This was aided by the nice little touch of having all the characters, even the ones not actively in your combat party, follow along as you travel the towers many interesting floors.

The story took a typical fantasy story, added post-apocalyptic themes, with a dash of sci-fi, and mashed it all together into an intriguing little story that did not overstay its welcome. It was simply presented with no pages upon pages of superfluous dialogue that would put you to sleep. The ending twist was definitely not one I was expecting as well, so be prepared for a little surprise.

If you're looking for a smaller RPG to play between bigger releases, one that provides a fun, competent story and entertaining combat consider giving this game a try. I look forward to the Developer's next game and thank you for reading my review

MAJOR CAVEAT: Only play this game if you're a experienced Pathfinder player or someone who likes to minmax/theorycraft in RPGs

I've enjoyed my time playing this game, at least the first 3 Acts. The companion and quest writing was excellent, the amount of choices you could make for even the smallest thing had me mulling my decisions carefully. Combat was satisfying and in-depth, with a ton of tools to best your enemies. The crusade management, like Kingmaker's kingdom management, was shallow and dull, but still somewhat tolerable once the difficulty was lowered.

I'd like to preface this next part by saying I've been playing on Normal up to this point. As soon as Act 4 rolls around, suddenly everything began to sour for me. Every encounter was filled with enemies with 30-40+ AC, at minimum plus 20+ on all saving throws, and a irritating amount of attacks per turn. The worst part about this was the fact that these weren't even major encounters or bosses, just random groups who'd pick a fight with you for just walking by. At first I simply began to spend more time buffing before fights, and the most common tool for the cRPG player, savescumming. After a while, I finally gave in and lowered the difficulty, but the damage was already done. While the story was ramping up to major highs, my motivation to keep playing hit major lows.

Now everything was tedious, the gameplay, the tiresome crusade management, the constant loading screens, and the to big overland map . Now, I'm no stranger to TTRPGs, and I knew going in that Pathfinder is a very complex rules heavy system, but it honestly felt unfair with the amount of damage the most basic enemies were dealing to my party. My paladin with 35 AC meant ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, and I don't remember the last time I saw any of my spells do full damage to anyone. I knew the tools to solve these issues existed (respeccing and youtube guides, builds, etc...) but I was so unmotivated to even care at that point. I thought my builds were relatively fine, and my experience playing a multitude of other cRPGs, (PoE 1&2, BG 1&2, NWN1) I would have carried me through, but alas that was not the case

IN CONCLUSION

Despite my rant above, I enjoyed most of my time playing this game. The amount of effort Owlcat made bringing the TTRPG to life is nothing short of extraordinary. If you are an experienced player of old school cRPGs, definitely pick this up, just beware that there will come a point where the game takes a sharp difficulty spike, one that hopefully you're experienced enough to conquer

Solid start, the kind of game that makes me want to tear my hair out, but y'know in a good way
