The Good, Bad, and Ugly of PS:PO

[Beta Player/Tester?][Simulation]
I'd like to start off by saying, as a veteran of LSPD:FR, this might be the best chance of a standalone & simplistic style of LEO simulation. While still in its infancy if you are interested, or a current player of, LSPD:FR you SHOULD support this game. Whether that be in spreading word of it to gain more attention or buying a copy yourself. The team have a laid out always-visible & changing roadmap. They have shown consistency with working through the community and are always involved, aswell as trying to improve through community feedback - something lacking with other developers.

1. The Good
1a. Simplistic & Easy to learn
1b. Constant Improvement
1c. Dedication
2. The Bad
2a. Red Light/Speeding deductions
2b. Urgency of actions
3. The Ugly
3a. The CP system
3b. The Traffic problem
4. The Blueprint for a Perfect LEO Simulator / A Message to the devs

The Good
1A - Simplistic & Easy to learn
If you've played LSPD:FR you know how difficult it can be setting it up and getting it to work, then how insanely frustrating it can be after that getting all of your favorite mods (The game currently does not offer mods - I'll talk on this later) Police Simulator offers simple controls along with tool-tips along the way. Its interactive pie menus are far-superior to LSPD:FRs multiple key-binds for a variety of different menus, most of which have overlapping features. Because of these design choices it brings the game to much much wider audience (Along with the fairly linear progression until Free Roam) When I First began playing the game level balance was a massive issue, taking 2-3 hours to unlock the cruiser, this has been reduced to ~45ish minutes. Which is plenty of time to learn the absolute basics before you start smashing into things.

1B - Constant Improvement
While the game currently has its issue - and that's okay its very early on (and I'm a beta player) - the team has delivered constant and on-time updates/hotfixes DESPITE being a small team. They are heavily involved with their rapidly rising player base and are always looking for new ideas to implement (Check out the Trello page!) As a player/LEO-Simulation fan, this point specifically means a lot. What makes LSPD:FR so good, despite ITS problems, is the community and constant want for improvement. Having solid player-developer communication aswell as fan-made content will be key to the success of this game (imho)

1C - Dedication
The teams dedication to making the processes, scripts, and models as accurate as possible is thus far admirable. Its obvious they want to do this the right way, demonstrating a different in-depth look to a officers job than todays political views while also showing the fine moral/lawful line they walk everyday.

The Bad
2A. Red Light/Speeding deductions
This is more of a annoyance and, one of, my complaints with the CP system. Why does the CP system deduce points for Red Light running - with your lights on. So far, there has been a multitude of times where I need to get around the block quickly and the game disagrees with me (This reminds me - Also! PLEASE get rid of CP deduction for "Sirens on for no reason" ) There are far far far many too situations to list where a officer might need to use his siren/lights. The game simply does not have the intelligence to dictate what every single situation will call for, nor does any game really. (e.g. Wanted person is on other side of alley, so you need to get your car around the block quickly. This leads me to another driving-related CP deduction issue. Speeding. Absolutely stellar in theory, but not with the pacing system. Consistently trying to pace someone that is indeed speeding far over the limit will get you usually not one but several CP deductions.

2B. Urgency Of Action
If you've ever watched a police bodycam, or interacted with an LEO. They all usually have one similar quality, urgency. Actions are performed swiftly and efficiently. The current in-game animations provide a rather slow interaction with any ped or car. It can be rather frustrating when you're trying to grind through those early levels or are rushing during a hectic scene. Hectic scenes are something LEOs deal with every single day - The game should perform this. (This is on their roadmap!)
The Ugly - Urgent/Biggest Complaints
3A. The CP System
Finally its time to talk about that pesky CP system, while a amazing idea and in some areas its perfect. However there are a lot of interactions the CP system either "Forgets", or literally doesnt recognize it. This can be VERY frustrating and in some ways game-breaking. There has been a multitude of times I've put down the game because so much CP has been retracted for glitchy reasons it makes it not worth it to finish up the shift. (e.g. Expired parking meters, above speeding/red light/, too far in road, pacing, stopping a suspected wanted ped, some arrests) I hope to either see this system vastly improve, disappear completely, or stop deducting you in some areas.

3B. The Traffic Problem
This one is, obviously, massively essential to the game. AI Drivers MUST be improved. Id rather LSPD:FRs hectic AI driving than this games current driver AI. Its very common for small accidents to build a few cars up, cars that wont move regardless of what you do and then Tow Trucks/Transports wont be able to get to you forcing you to restart the shift and lose that sweet SP. On some occasions build ups are so bad they begin performance issues. PLEASE Let us direct traffic, or let flares deflect traffic, this is a urgent game-breaking problem.

Now, you're problem thinking "This sounds terrible, why should I buy this" And to reiterate from the introduction "this might be the best chance of a standalone & simplistic style of LEO simulation". The Game is VERY EARLY on. As consistent as they are, it will be a long time until this game is considered a serious competitor to LSPD:FR - However there is one massive thing that will make this game take off.

[h5] A Message to the developers [/h5]
To pick up where I left off in the last paragraph.
MODS
You guys have really got something here. For years there has not been a reliable, actually fun LEO simulation game unless you wanted to spend a day or two downloading, modding, then testing. If you can make the implementation of mods URGENT to your development, alongside making mods easy-to-install via perhaps the workshop or mod launcher. This game WILL take off. Once a stable modding community is born you will have on your hands the greatest LEO simulator to date. The sooner mods are implemented the sooner the team can focus on core mechanics and bug fixes, and the sooner the community can focus on making the game more-indepth and tunable to an even wider variety of people. LSPDFR is a game much to massive to try and download where I live and this game already gives me hope one day it will be as great as LSPDFR. I truly believe this game has the potential AND the team to deliver this. I have hope you all WILL see this.

You guys can do this! There is so so so much potential here. I'd love to know if the team have tried out LSPDFR or draw inspiration from it!

And that's why you should support this game, there is potential. Do your research and you will see the teams reputation for yourself.
