Fun game, but would recommend buying on sale.

Dungeons are kinda whatever, and a lot of the design is just [Go through dungeon] > [Event Happens] > [Continue through dungeon] > [Event Happens] > [Go through dungeon again], sometimes with really annoying traversal mechanics that always need to be interrupted by a cut scene.

Definitely feels more like a $40 - 50 dollar game for what you get -- though it's still quite fun, and my favorite part is the digimon raising and the digivolution system. Most of my fun comes from the boss fights and just trying to get all the 'mons.

Early Access Review
It's good fun but until they change this stupid ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ "artwork" for the game and not have this stupid ♥♥♥♥-eating grin broccoli-haired dumbass in the art, I'm not recommending it. Commission someone to make the artwork, use an in-game screenshot, but the current art really just pisses me off to look at, and that's not even mentioning the AI aspect. I really hate looking at this stupid ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ broccoli-haired dumb ♥♥♥♥.

Definitely needs a lot of improvements to routing, builds, randomization, and balancing in general, but as a game to play with friends it's pretty fun, wouldn't recommend it with a 40 dollar price tag or without improvements to the overall experience and addition of more content, duos, voice chat for pugs, and other QoLs that this game desperately needs to live up to what it can really be.

If you like cosmic horror, RPGs, and survival horror, this game is for you.
Also has body horror.

Absolutely adore this game, the music, the party members, and the lore, definitely worth picking up and definitely worth your time.

The puzzle aspect and stat-raising/dating sim stuff is fun, but man the lewd stuff sucks.

I'd like this more without the lewds and that's just cause the art style is bad (I understand this is an older game, however).

Black Myth: Wukong is a great showing from these first-time devs, but still lacks quite a bit for me to be able to call it a great game.

The presentation is fantastic, and the re-telling of Journey to the West is something I'm sure many fans would enjoy -- assuming they know the story.

If you don't know the story and the mythos/lore of JttW, then it'll come back to, unfortunately, bite you in the ass with some gameplay segments.

For me, the boss fights are the highlight, but not being familiar with the story of Journey to the West, there were some points where things were a bit confusing, where I just would have no way of knowing certain items interacted with bosses in certain ways.

The gameplay is okay, though all you really have is a basic combo and charge attacks, that's kind of what it's all about. This isn't really a Souls-like, it's an action game more akin to DMC, but with none of the combos/expression really there. You do your combo, dodge, build up your meter, and get in your big hit at the right time, and that's really it.

You get abilities that are fun to use and definitely help you out in some fights, and the transformations are a really fun part of the game too. Chapters 2 and 3 were probably the highlights for me. Some of the bosses in the game can be really frustrating however, not due to difficulty, but because they sit out of range of your attack range for a good amount of time, or fly around and the camera just screws you over.

Would I recommend BM: Wukong? Absolutely.
If you love Journey to the West, you'll love this game.
If you want something with in-depth gameplay? Definitely not.
All-in-all, for what I experienced, I would give it a 7 or 8 out of 10.

After having finished my first playthrough finally, I can see why this game was up for so many awards and contender for Game of the Year, regardless of how I feel about award shows. Adding to that, I also struggle to see how this game didn't win game of the year.

Personally one of the best JRPGs I've played in a long time with characters that I really enjoyed and a plot that I just felt myself wanting to experience more and more of. I would honestly give this game an 11/10 because it had everything I wanted and then some.

A game about heroes that has villainous practices.

Costumes and heroes are locked behind gacha (which has a pity that only lasts on a per banner basis, current one is 13 days left as of the time of this writing -- you need 200 points per character, and there are three in the gacha)

Some of the characters are also only obtainable through the battle pass, such as All Might being locked at the highest level of the battle pass.

There are several different types of currencies which can be overwhelming.

My first instinct after the tutorial: check out the shop to see if heroes are currency locked, but I didn't find the heroes there, immediately checked on google how to unlock them, as you cannot buy them outright it seems. It was strangely confusing.

If you're planning to spend money on a small-scale battle royale game and are a big fan of MHA that you don't mind shelling out some cash for costumes and characters, dive in! Otherwise I would say hard pass, as other BRs are much better and more consumer-friendly than this one.

Love it and the vast amount of things to explore and do, and the world that was created, but it's not without its flaws.

For those looking for something fun and challenging, with a butt ton of exploration, Elden Ring is well worth the price, and you'll get your money's worth in terms of time spent playing the game.

The game also heavily encourages you to experiment, try out different weapons, and find what you like after some time with the game, so you're not ever locked into one build as you can re-spec once you get to a certain point, and there are many tools provided for you to succeed and really play the game your way.

If you enjoyed Resident Evil 4 and 7, you'll very likely enjoy this one, it definitely improves upon 7 in a lot of ways. I found myself wanting to play more constantly and enjoying the monster mash the game has to offer, as well as the tension it creates. Ethan's goofy as hell, but he's an enjoyable protagonist all the same, just could stand to be voiced a bit better.
