Honestly it's not a bad game just not to my liking. The reasons my review is negative are:
1: The world feels a bit empty. I didn't feel motivated to explore
2: The menus are a bit strange to navigate
3: The controls felt quite strange. They felt like an awkward mix between realistic and arcade
4: I hate the soundtrack (radio channels)

I ended up getting a refund and buying Pcars2

Early Access Review
Do you remmeber the first time you crashed a car in (Insert game here)? Well this game ramps the destruction up to 11.

Did I mention that it has a ''story mode'', vehicle editing, soft body physics, mod support, challenges, AI controll, enough maps and cars to waste 14h of your life (+∞ hours of mods)

10/10 would crash again.

Note: This review is from an outsiders perspective. Skullgirls is one of the first fighting games I've ever played and the first I've properly played (I played MK9 for a while, but eventually I got bored).

TL;DR: Good game 8/10

Skullgirls is a really fun fighting game. The character roster is nicely balanced and no characters feel useless, although a few characters have long-range attacks that the A.I. just loves to spam Parasoul and Robo-Fortune .

The controls are pretty good, once you get used to them. There are six attack buttons: three for punches and three for kicks. You also navigate the menus with the movement controls and kicks/punches. All of this was really confusing for me, when I started, but I got used to it in about five minutes.

The blockbuster abilities are cool, but I struggle to get them to work. It's probably because I'm not used to pressing a million buttons to do an ability (same with fatalities in MK), but I think after a few hours of practice and another half hour of memorising all the moves I will be able to do most of the abilities no sweat.

There is a great optional tutorial in Skullgirls. It teaches you all the things you need to know to do anything in this game. It's divided into lessons starting with basic movement and ending with really advanced techniques.

Rapid game mode rundown:
Single player
Story, Arcade (random challenges), CPU Quick Match, Survival (DLC, I think)

Multiplayer
Tournament Mode, Local Only, Quick Match, Lobby Play (PC only)

That's all the things that I've seen so far. Haven't played the MP modes and haven't played much of the actual game, but so far it's a great game.

8/10: an outsider's opinion

Update:

So... I played it again... It wasn't good..

1st of all: It's still unoptimised as heck. Gtx960 overclocked; Intel core I5-4460; 12gb of ram; high-ish settings. The game runs at about 20-ish FPS...

2nd: I have a monitor with a resolution of 1600x1200 and the HUD is broken. Some buttons don't appear, some things go over the edge of the background.

3rd: Confusing HUD layout. So I spent the first 5 minutes of a match trying to figure out how to lear engrams (the skill tree). Turns out, that It actually automatically gives all the blueprints to you and you CAN'T learn engrams. Btw there is still an engram button, like in ARK:Survival Evolved only it has NO USE.

In conclusion: The game is a bad multiplayer copy of ARK:Survival Evolved. Don't even bother with downloading this until it is finally optimised.

But hey at least I don't have to make it look like a NES game to play it. :)

Old review:

So I WAS going to play this again to see if it had been updated and had actually been patched to run better than a NES game, but there are no servers... this game is pretty much dead.
Last time I played it was at least a year ago. Back then it was a steaming pile of unoptimised garbage. I tried giving it a second chance with better hardware, but looks like the game is pretty much dead in Europe...

Right now my recommandation is: don't download this game.

Btw sorry if I spelled sth wrong. English is not my 1st language and I can't be bothered to do a spell check.

Let me get this out of the way: Starbound is NOT Terraria. They may look similar, but they are very different.

I’m not going to compare Starbound to Terraria in this review (mainly because so many other people have already compared the two). I think that they are both excellent games, but I personally prefer Starbound.

Onto the review.

Starbound takes place across a randomly generated universe shared by all of your characters.

It is a good game on the graphical side. It has a nice art style (if you like pixel art) and a really nice lighting engine (for a 2D game).

The story is lacking and on the boring side. The main quest line is probably the worst part of the game. It consists of scanning quests, where you are introduced to the different races in the universe, and 7 boss battles. The side quests are quite basic. Although many other games are do have a lot of similar side quests.

There are 7 playable races in the game:
Apex - hyper intelligent gorillas
Floran - tribal plant people
Human - good ol’ hoomans
Hylotl – Japanese people turned into fish
Avian – Egyptians turned into birds
Glitch – robots that are stuck in the medieval ages
Novakid – people made out if literal stars

The enemies are quite good. There is a nice variety of creatures on each planet and you can capture almost all of them to send into battle later (like Pokémon). The minibosses are challenging enough that if you aren’t prepared they will kick your butt. The story bosses are quite interesting and also offer a good challenge for the player.

The crafting system is quite nice. First you make a crafting station for your crafting stations and then you can make the actual crafting stations which can be upgraded as you progress through the game.

The building system is pretty much what you'd expect from a game like this. There is a good amount of different blocks so you can create pretty much whatever you want (if you know how).

We all know that mods are awesome. That’s why it’s so great that Starbound is really easily modable. Mods can be downloaded from Nexus, from the Chucklefish forums or directly from the Steam workshop without any hastle.

The endgame is okay. You get to do whatever you want and if you want to explore a dungeon then you can buy some ancient keys form a totally not shady guy and go explore some randomly-generated dungeons and battle a randomly-generated boss at the end of each.

Overall I would rate this game 8/10. It can definitely use some improvement (especially in the main quest area) and definitely has some flaws, but it’s still absolutely lovely. I’d recommend you buy this if you are considering it, but aren’t sure yet.
