Overall, it was a really good game. I spent all my hours in one go and mostly played in duo with a friend. I played as a 2HD melee tanky build, and my friend played as a ranger with a bit of a support build.

I wish there were more skill options, like farmer, where you have a chance to get multiple plants when farming, or cook, where you get more food when cooking. These aspects of the game became pretty boring and tiresome in the endgame.

Also, the game lacks enemy variety. Overall, the enemies are the same and share the same mechanics.

The last biome needs alot more polishing, especially (dont read further before finishing the game) the last boss. The boss was the biggest disappointment in our opinion, although the road to it was fine.

The build system is great, but the crafting system becomes pretty messy in the endgame. Maybe implement a system (like in Terraria) where you can access all workstations at once. Running from the hunter, to the farmer, then to the alchemist, laboratory, grinder, sawmill, and blast furnace is not very player-friendly.

But overall, we had a pretty good and immersive experience, at least in the first three biomes. This game is definitely worth the price, and we had much fun exploring the game blind.

BEWARE!
This game is at best in a beta stage. Last major patch was on DEC31 2020 and last small patch was on March 13, 2021. Ironically they updated their >open beta< branch with adjustments and improvements of their other game GOH on 14th March 2022 (on the same day as i wrote the orginal review).

Ever since they announced Gates of Hell: Talvisota i dont think that CTA will get the necessary improvements, attention and polishment that this unique game really needs.
