A fantastic collection of great games and Halo 4

The amount of game here is incredible, each game has something different to offer, all tied around halo's gripping sandbox based combat and open ended level design.
Amazing singleplayer campaigns that can be played cooperativly with 2-4 people depending on the game.
Satisfying arena multiplayer where wits keep you alive more than reflexes ever will.
Each game is an incredible port with various options and can run on most computers from the last decade (and then some) while still having incredible visuals.

Early Access Review
This game is really cool but it barely functions at times. I love the premise and the gameplay while janky and stiff shows potential and is REALLY fun.

An amazing game, one that I've waited 13 years for. One that arrived in a way I wouldn't have imagined. I thought that I would play a few hours a day until I finished it but to my surprise I played the game in one sitting (with a lot of breaks of course) And In that time my love for half-life was rekindled. Excellent pacing and polish. Interesting and unique gameplay, one of the sections made me want more horror games in vr. My only problems with the game are that most of the environments feel the same and do not have the same level of diversity that half life 2 had, Melee weapons are useless, Alyx and Russell won't shut the ♥♥♥♥ up sometimes, and there is a surprising lack of time interacting with citizens/rebels or city life like in half life 2 All of these are minor complaints for the most part.

My expectations were that this game would be good but not groundbreaking, I was honestly more excited at the prospects of modding and what games would be enabled because of Source 2 (the game engine alyx runs on) and valves universal approval of modding would enable some incredible experiences. But needless to say my notion of this only a good game were blow out of the water. This game is phenomenal.

To the people who are sad that the next half life isn't a traditional video game, I understand your pain, I wish for that game as well. Hopefully at some point they will deliver that, but this is game that we got instead. Thankfully it is so ingeniously crafted and tailored for vr that I'm glad I got the experience that I did even if this cost the prospect of normal half life games.

BONEWORKS is probably one of the best vr games I have ever played. I have owned a vr headset for almost 2 years at this point and have had this nagging feeling that, this is really cool and I love it but this feels like a waste of money. There are no GAMES just these multiplayer only games, short experiences, or one note, arcadey games like robo recall that you can buy for a stupidly high price tag. This game removed that feeling from the back of my mind. I wholeheartedly enjoyed this game, but that being said its not perfect.

BONEWORKS gets a lot right in terms of gameplay which I will touch on more in a bit, for now I will talk about the issues I have with the game. Weapons of all varieties feel satisfying to use but there is a shocking lack of interesting guns for a majority of the game, they only get interesting at the very end and most players aren’t going to be able to use these weapons because they didn't spend hours scouring the map for every last piece of ammo. The melee weapons while having many options all with their own strengths and weaknesses there are no stand out exotic weapons like there are with the guns. Also I did not run out of ammo once in my entire playthrough they throw a stupid ammount of ammo at you. I had a collective 10k ammo by the end of the game.

The game has a pacing issue. While every set piece be it puzzle or combat is great there is too much dead space between each different encounter and I left the game feeling unsatisfied with the amount of combat encounters. I would have preferred more mini puzzles or more player opened gates (ie: Plank barricades, boxes in a doorway) to make you interact more with the world in this downtime. The sewer level tackled this problem very well for the first half of its runtime.

The enemies are a bit boring if I’m being honest, the only interesting one is the guy that shoots the electric projectiles and even that is trivial to dodge. The headcrab headsets are a nice addition. This leads back into my complaint about more weapons but I would have liked to see more shooting enemies with different guns. Even if they only added a shotgun enemy it would be enough of an addition.

What BONEWORKS does right:

Combat: Despite all the lacking parts of combat it is just too fun to hit people over the head with a sledgehammer or spray down a crowd.

Exploration: You are rewarded for going of the beaten path with more ammo or maybe even a gun.

Puzzles: There is at least one major puzzle on every level and they are all interesting (minus one with a weighted box and a hook toward the beginning.)

Player Movement: Finally a game that understands what locomotion should be, there is a surprising amount of depth in the movement. You can even crouch jump!

Physics Interactions: The way your body interacts with the environment is very believable for the most part but its not perfect in niche situations.

Unique setpieces: every level has its own unique feel to it, and there is even a lot of differentiation in single levels.

Atmosphere: I felt fully immersed in the rich world that they created here, it takes a bit but once you’re in, you’re in.

Music: Buy the ost dammit, it’s really good

Level Design: The environments facilitated the gameplay well in most situations.

On a side note, there is a shockingly high amount of player expression in everything you do, from breaking a box to every single combat encounter. I may just be praising vr for being vr but they really let you play this game however you want.

TL:DR: Great game, lack of cool weapons too much dead space, everything else is fantastic though.

To preface, this game is very fun. Though I would not recommend it to any new players. If you are a returning player, maybe.
This game has very little content left for new players after they chopped off half the game and the expansions are very expensive for what they give you. I would say the new user experience is bad but there is no new user experience. They just drop you in the world after the intro mission. So not only do you not know what to do chances are you cant do it anyways because its behind a pay wall.

*Rant alert*

They got rid of my favorite raid, Leviathan, to make way for vault of glass (Content from Destiny 1, yes they got rid of new content to make way for old content) and I'm still mad.

Also the fact that I paid full price for destiny 2 on release and I paid for every expansion and I am no longer able to do content that I PAID for pisses me off. I don't understand why they just don't make a new game and stop cannibalizing what made destiny 2 great.

Mini rant aside, as an established player of destiny the game is still fun even if these decisions piss me off. So if you are determined to play it, then bring a friend who knows what they're doing.
