I believe this game has the potential to be good. There are a lot of good aspects to it, but none of them involve aspects that make your life enjoyable as you play the game. For a game that revolves around navigating and walking through the 900 winding paths as you get into the later dungeons, there is no map or minimap to know where you are going. You could just "get good" and remember every quadrant of every fork of every map, but i don't think the average player would prefer to do things like that when youre playing a single player game to enjoy the experience.

Another huge issue is the QoL.
-Default key bindings on keyboard and mouse acively conflict with each other.
-Mouse is randomly locked and unlocked to your game's window. I.e. When you alt + tab, the game will steal and hold your mouse hostage until you press escape to bring up the exit menu.
-On controller, accessing the character menu will sometimes just make your controller stop interacting with any part of the UI.
-World map is too large and too vast for you to navigate without any form of positional marker. The available compass does not help in any shape way or form.
-The picto system is implemented HORRIBLY. It's fine when youre leveling and going through, but once you start to collect towards the end of the game, you end up with 108 pictos that you need to level, through 4 battles each. you can level 9 at a time since you can equip 3 per active character, but that's still 4 battles per 9 pictos.
-Mob density near flags is also lacking. You have to run very VERY far or use very specific maps that you have to go out of your way for. It's just obnoxious.
-Character to mob engagement ranges are very inconsistent. Sometimes you can first-strike, other times you'll just end up running into the mob because either hitboxes aren't consistent, or your strike phases through the mob as it's 1cm away from touching-engaging you.
- Picto unlock ui is way too small. A small rotated square around the icon makes it difficult to tell if the pictos you have in your inventory are completed or just 1 or 2 battles off. There's 0 forethought.

People can defend the company by saying "theyre only a small team of 30". It doesn't matter what your team size is. If youre going to make a game, you make it right. You don't skimp out on things that will ruin the experience for your paying customers. It's lazy, and its a shame that a game with an okay story like this is faltering on user-experience.

Combat is implemented well, its clean. But you spend 60% (being generous here) of your story playthrough interacting with the ui and the world map. Spending 60% of the time having my immersion and experience slowed to a halt makes this game immediately not worth the time or money.
Fix your game.

There are people here in the reviews who give it a good rating based off of art, story direction, maybe even because they like that they left Ubisoft to start a new studio. You shouldn't judge a game only based off of things like that. Implementation of a good WORKING ui, a navigatable system that works flawlessly, a game not plagued by terrible bugs that steal your mouse or remove your cursor from your pc-altogether are all things that matter. Of course I used very specific examples because theyre all very heavily related to the issues this game has.

Edit: I came back to say this because it REALLY irks me, it will randomly crash, with an error box, that says nothing. It's just blank. It crashes once every 30minutes-1hr. Its very inconsistent. And it's absolutely f-ing frustrating. I've updated drivers, i've checked integrity, I've done everything I can on my end. Don't release a game if you can't do it properly. Selling a broken product is wrong and you should feel bad for it. ALSO. 30fps cutscenes. THIRTY.

This game crashes consistently and constantly within an hour of playing. There's so many technical problems with it that the developer has yet to put out a patch and fix. Their "beta" opt-in for more stability has done naught. Other than the crashing, the game runs (by default) by not using all cpu cores and stutters horribly until you set the affinity yourself via task manager. Persona 5R ran perfectly, and Persona 5S has been the most unstable game of this year across steam. Absolutely unplayable. I loved the story in 5R, and even with the continued storyline with 5S i would not consider it worth it with all of these problems, not until theyre fixed.

Invasions bad, but players are also bad, so it's okay.

Devs gave up completely on the game.. So much potential but then again, it was doomed from the start since the devs stopped caring about content once the game was released.
