Early Access Review
From the same developers who made Chivalry 2, it surprises me how much the melee mechanics feel janky with this game. When horde fighting/survival games within the last 16 years do better, then you know there's something wrong. The idea of the game itself isn't a bad one, it is just incomplete at the moment. Feeling more like a fight against boredom than the undead. One of the things I did find interesting was Co-op is definitely a requirement to getting things done. Does the game have potential to improve? If the devs care enough, yes. But after nearing the 2 hour limit for the steam refund, I found the game to be VERY Meh. If you want to try this game out to see if you like it, I'd recommend waiting for it to go on sale. Even then for a 30 dollar game, you could just get L4D2 for yourself and 2 buddies and have a more chaotic and fun experience.

For all that is holy, PLEASE go back to the old UI or add an option to. There is so much clutter on the screen it's not even funny. There are some things I do like such as the new way to add/remove health chunks is neat.

I will edit my review more when I see more to how the map itself is and how firefights go.

Map looks and feels great so far. Servers though are horrible a decent amount of the time. Either heavy rubber banding to the point you get launched like a slingshot or enough to just flat out crash the server.

Update:
With the talk of the DLCs basically described into such great detail that I don't feel the need to cover it here, I will be keeping my review as is. The amount of issues such as bugs, the barely fixed UI to the point it is in the "acceptable category", and other issues that have only been fixed patch after patch just feels like this game is trying to put a band-aid on a gaping wound that needs stitches and disinfectant. Since the release of 1896 the game seems to be in a steady decline by negative reviews and overall mixed experiences. Will I still be playing this game? Yes, I am huge gun nut when it comes to the Industrial era of firearms and it is one of the few things that appeals to me to keep playing. Will I recommend this game in its current state? Probably not.

As much as I love this game, the memories I have had, and the friends I have made on it, I must give it a negative review. The crisis that needs no explanation is disappointing to see how it has been responded to by Valve with complete silence in years. I genuinely smiled the one match where I got into a match without a bot in sight when they first attempted to "fix" this problem. Please fix this game, for some of us grew up on this game, others started their fame from this game and I'd hate to see this chapter end because of mismanagement.
