A really enjoyable game. Despite its age Fallout 2 is still a great game and you should definitely give it a try, especially if you are a fallout fan. It might be hard to get into it especially because unlike games today it doesn't have a tutorial and it can be unpredictable (too many random encounters when traveling long distances, combat in which you might shoot your companion by mistake or miss your enemies a lot of times etc), but despite this the game is a unique experience.
