This game is pretty rough around the edges. the way buildings connect, terrain generation, not that helpful 'help' screens. its an interesting experience sure, but most of my time was spent waiting at 4x speed for colonists to do literally anything. one of my saves had me spawn in a little surrounded alcove. rocks all around, no room for growth at all, which is fairly common, and this is the starter planet.
You are only allowed a single base, no seperate connections, anything you have built past a certain point cannot be changed at all. lets say you build Oxy->Dorm->Water->Elec. you cannot remove, change the size of, or generally do anything unless everything other building in the line is also dissasembled.
Personally Id give this a 6/10, and tell you to wait for their 2nd game and buy that one instead of this.
This is a complete experience, and by no means am i telling you to not play, its just rough. updates have almost entirely stopped and they have shifted focus to their second game. so i would recommend keeping an eye out for the release of PlanetBase 2 around.... *looks at wishlist page* 2027 ish

Couldn't save Phillip 0/10. immediate uninstall. he was a crucial character to the plot and he was MURDERED.
I WILL NEVER PLAY AGAIN UNTIL I CAN SAVE PHILLIP.

Bought this game when browsing though my discover page. very interesting game and different play styles. This game rewards you for being thorough, and searching every nook and cranny for items. And certain maps are huge. The main starting area has an entirely missable Gas station and bridge with loot. The train and placed items look amazing. The zombies are a little cartoonish, but hey, this aint AAA.
This game requires patience, or the ability to run really far. with a level system for health, stamina, strength, and stealth. And it has genuinely scared me at times with triggered events from looting a crate, or the placement of zombies in a tight space. I think its an overall great game and experience, that with just a tiny bit of TLC, could become a masterpiece.

Edit: After 16 hours of playing the game (all available story completed as of current update) I've got a few things i want to mention. THIS GAME IS REALLY IN DEV. It has a solid base, and most if not all functions work as intended. but the game lacks the polish that regular bug fixes and end game development brings. I would say this game is 3/5 the way done. And gathering materials for the train is a slog. at the end of my run, when i reached an area i couldn't pass because of it not being in the game yet, i had barely built up my train. A single story cabin that held all my items. When i build in the train, i feel a constant unease over use of materials. Some items that are really useful are plentiful. all around the areas. but there are specific items (leather, Metal Scraps, motors, metal parts) that just don't seem to spawn as much as they should. and it lead to me hoarding as much as i could to prepare for making tools or weapons.

My current gripes:
Inventory handling, moving and interacting with items in the inventories of you and other items is a bit... slow. Splitting has to be done across 2 containers and cant be done on person. i find myself using shelves a lot, because the placing of items is actually pretty good.

Hitboxes, There is a stealth mechanic, and it becomes pretty useful when you need to sneak around heavier tier zombies. and stealth weapons as well, like the scrap knife. but even with full stealth leveled, i find it hard to hit zombies in their weak point (brain) i have my cursor directly over their head... and i hit their shoulder, or back.. Most of the time it isn't an issue, but there are some really cramped areas that this becomes a problem.

Travel. I started out min maxing my stamina and strength stats. even with a crap ton of stamina, Running around everywhere is very slow, with the very large map sizes. Might i suggest like a cargo bike that you can build and have a place to store it on the side of the train? similar to the barrel containers? Something that makes transportation of you or other materials faster.

Robo Dog. Nothings wrong with him. His walking noise is kinda annoying after a while but other than that hes the perfect helper buddy. Currently doesn't take damage or need charge, but i think when its eventually added, either make the battery very large, or have ways to charge it outside of the train. being stuck in the area you cant leave until you finish making stuff (right before the tunnel) i brought the Robo doggy, and thinking about how i would probably have to leave him there if they added it, because i spent multiple in game days looting and running that area.

OVERALL: great (in dev) game with great (in dev) features. I will patiently wait for new updates and edit accordingly. But if this happens upon you in a sale, i'd say buy it. Its a nice little experience for what it is currently. and when its finished, it will be a masterpiece.

[SPOILERS] [SPOILERS] [SPOILERS]

Third station you go to. Its a filler up gas station for your train. If you didnt know, there is a tank on the left side, middle of the Train engine. you will want to line it up with the pump there.
There is a key you have to retrieve. its inside a house on a hill past all the cars in front of the building you arrive at. you use that key to open a red door in the train station. This will do 2 things that impede you.
1: the power can be toggled on and off. and once on, an alarm will sound, not turning off until the power is.
2: the train becomes innaccessable when the power is on. The station itself lowers a gate that prevents access to the train. You will have to be FAST. and/or have a bit of time to work with.
My strategy for this is to have the pump ready, plugged in, and the pump turned on (not active, just ready to be) and once the power is on, every zombie in the vicinity will come to the station. IT IS A LARGE HORDE. Tens of regulars, and a few specials littered throughout. But there is a limit. after a while, they stop spawning. i recommend having grenades ready, or a couple melee weapons. ONCE YOU ARE DONE. keep the key. keep ALL keys you find. they are re-useable. every time you leave and come back through a map load, the station resets, and so does the lock on the electrical room door. this will save you a trip. you can repeat until the train tank is full.

its a pretty good game. the story is very linear so you're never lost. and the 3 different characters to play as is a cool mechanic. my only grievances are not being able to call your personal vehicle to yourself in story mode, and if you max out a really expensive car that's not your personal vehicle, and you lose it, its gone for good.
