Not open world at all, but tiny boring maps. Gunplay completely unsatisfying. There are a million games to play, and this one failed to grab me despite my love of looting/survival/post-apocalyptic shooters. Janky ahh game

Repetitive, dull, and tedious. Story is insipid and the characters are boring.

It's not for everyone, but I absolutely loved it. And it felt especially prescient during 2020.

Hella dumb AI, I mean immersion-breakingly stupid. Aside from that, it's a well-crafted, brightly lit sci-fi horror world , an immersion sim with tons of opportunity for creative problem solving. But I'm a dummy, so I usually just blast my way through,

Early Access Review
It's cool for what it is, if you like cars and the vaporwave aesthetic. It deserves a screensaver mode where it plays itself while you do other tasks.

Absolute garbage. Insipid, bland, unimaginative, on-rails gameplay--the usual CoD crapola.

A terrifying, claustrophobic, dread-filled, beautiful, and faithfully realized iteration of the Alien franchise. Incredibly well-done AI. Immersive sound and music. Optimized so well it ran over 40 fps at high settings on my old Core 2 and HD 5770. The last few hours of the game feel like a wee bit of a padded out slog, but this is otherwise a near-masterpiece. Creative Assembly unequivocally deserves your support, so do them and yourself a favor and pick this up at the next sale.

Note: play it on Hard as the devs recommend, as the AI is ramped up to provide a more realistic set of behaviors.

Everything about this game is lackluster. What should be Michael Bay bombast feels muted. Even in an open world game there are ways to create good pace.

Tethering allows for some fun moments, but is not nearly as effective as a rocket launcher. Still no weight to the tedious, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ENDLESS pew-pew gunplay. Abhorrent driving controls, not that it matters. Poorly acted, numerous in quantity, insipid cutscenes that wouldn't be funny if I was 9. A giant, half empty playground I'm thrown in, but I have to grind lame challenges to unlock the advanced abilities I don't even need to easily pants the brain-dead enemy AI. Helicopters constantly spawn directly behind me, but pose no threat as I play musical chairs.

It's not that Just Cause 3 is incompetent, but it's so thoroughly underwhelming even I can't justify running out the clock of my life engaged in it.

At first I had a mixture of fun and frustration, then fun, then ultimately sheer boredom.

An initially difficult, poorly balanced game becomes a tensionless yawn-fest. Large, "tough" enemies' poor AI easily exploited. Pretty good first person melee combat, horrible feel to the gunplay. Zombie art style goofy and unscary, At times pretty, but always very blurry graphics/textures, with difficulty discerning small interactable objects at times. Imperfect, but mostly enjoyable parkour. Incredibly weak story featuring some of the most painful and utterly cringe-inducing, childish writing. Characters and stakes the player has zero investment in. Player character is random dudebro white savior of the world.

Incredibly short campaign padded with fetch quests and scavenging a million craft items each with repetitive, forced animations to pad playtime.*

*no I didn't play anywhere near this many hours, lots of idle time.*
