The game is good, don't listen to the sweaty. smelly, basement dwelling losers review bombing this game.

The censorship taking place is nothing more than VOID removing some nudity, and modifying sequences involving children.
The core gameplay is still the same, you just don't have to see children being hurt or look at old man balls. If that's a dealbreaker, report yourself to the nearest FBI office along with your hard drives.

edit: yes you fools, give me free steam points.

Steam needs a "Meh," option for reviews.

Obenseuer seems like a great game, from my pretty limited playtime. However, the game runs like dog ass. It can barely manage a consistent 60 FPS, with frequent dips into 15-20. This doesn't seem to change no matter what settings I run the game at, as I tried turning all my graphics settings to their lowest and resolution down to 1080x720 and got the same results. Not really sure what the culprit is, but I can't really recommend this game unless you are either cool with poor performance or you have a powerful enough PC to push through it.

Project Zomboid has a lot of promise, however I cannot in good conscience recommend this game to anyone.

To make things short, the development cycle of Project Zomboid is glacial with 2-4 years between each stable version of the game. PZ itself has been in Steam Early Access for twelve years as of 2025 and is nowhere near a full 1.0 release, making it the longest running Early Access game to ever be sold on Steam (of games that are still actively developed). For a game so far into its development you would expect a more complete package, but Project Zomboid does not deliver. Thankfully, many mod authors on Workshop have taken their time to remedy many issues but this should not be an acceptable substitute. Build 42 is slated to be released eventually ™ but I am not faithful that B42 will meaningfully alleviate many of the games core issues.

Note: I'm updating this review to better reflect how I feel about Dark and Darker in its current state.

The Good:
+The graphics and sound design for this game are very good, especially the sound design. It's no Cyberpunk, but I find it very easy to get immersed in the game. It looks good, and the sounds of the dungeon take this even further.

+Character and class customization feel pretty good, especially when playing as a team. An approach where each class has its own strengths and weaknesses plays really well here, and it feels rewarding to learn a class and upgrade them throughout the game.

The Meh:
~Combat and movement feel strangely robotic. I wouldn't say it's a clunky mess, but it doesn't feel like the character you control is a real person with fluid movements. It's not so bad it's distracting, but the first hour or so can feel a little weird.

~Some menus seem to be a little buggy, or at the least unintuitive. I particularly had a lot of issues with the merchants, ranging from having to click something multiple times to add it to the buy window, to some items disappearing after buying them.

~The game runs a kernel-level anticheat. This isn't a dealbreaker for me, but I can understand where people may not like this. I personally don't feel like this stuff is too invasive, but again, I can see where people wouldn't appreciate that.

~There just don't seem to be that many people playing, at least in the region I play in (East NA). Often, I or my team are in dungeons with as few as 4-5 other people. During peak times, this isn't as much an issue though.

The Ugly:
-PvP in this game just plain sucks. I can appreciate the risk v. reward factor that comes into -playing any extraction-based game. Dark and Darker just doesn't execute it well. The lack of almost any means to balance a lobby results in expeditions that usually end with you facing a player 80-90 levels higher than you. This isn't always a huge issue, but when it sucks it really sucks.

-Unless I missed it, there is no tutorial whatsoever in this game. Aside from a prompt to check your base gear before going into the dungeons, at no point does the game actually tell you how to play it. I feel this is a huge dropped ball, and only serves to add an unnecessary bar to entry for new players. There doesn't need to be a full playable tutorial, but some sort of quick, "Hey! Here's how menus work and how you move your guy, good luck!" would benefit this game well.

-Micro-transactions for this game are fairly pricey, don't include regional pricing, and you have to pay for anything in game using an in-game currency. At this time, there is no option to purchase Legendary Status outright, and you are forced to interact with the in-game shop. This sucks, and could turn into something worse down the line akin to how CoD and Destiny do their in-game shops. I understand this is a F2P game, but there are better ways to handle this and still pay the bills.

Not only will Bethesda sell you a game that won't run on modern hardware without modding it, but they will also release updates nearly FIFTEEN YEARS after the game's initial launch that breaks said mods. Fallout 3 is great, but like anything good, it can be turned to ♥♥♥♥ almost immediately when mistreated. Sad to see such a historic set of IPs go down in this fashion. Good job Bethesda, you're really doin' the thing guys

At first glimpse, Starbound may seem like a Terraria wannabe. But after playing a bit, you will soon realize that it is much more than that.
Pros:
+A near infinite number of planets, each completely randomized
+Character customization w/ many different races, all with their own dialouge and ships
+Workshop support
+Very smooth transitions between different tiers of items
+A huge number of side quests, randomized in planetary settlements
+Many more
Cons:
-THE F#$%ING SCAN QUESTS!!
-Starting out is a little difficult on your first character
-Grinding for resources is sometimes a bother
Overall, Starbound seems like a good sucessor to the 2011 game we all know and love, building up from what Terraria started. I highly recommmend this game for anyone who enjoys exploring in games, and sandbox games in general.
