great game, but the pvp is hot garbage

game can be played in many ways, it will baptize you back into being a casual if you're a sweat.

unpopular take: unfun
of course my opinion but majority of my tf2 experiences weren't fun
this is even subtracting bots out of it since usually there's almost always either one or more of the following:
-literally unable to do anything(I'm pretty sure everyone knows how that feels like)
-a bot that people somehow believe they're a real person kicking the bot
-people using the most annoying strategies in the entire game
-the match making and autobalance messing up balanced matches and never doing its job in one sided matches(so much for being called auto balance)
-people who never stop saying "no (insert the gamemode's literal objective)" when they should go to a community server for that

I get that yeah I can go on community servers but the general experience for me has been overall unfun
yeah I do take breaks from the game and may have to this time but it never helps, always come back to being rusty
never able to do anything for my team
insulted for being rusty and insulted for quitting a match that was one sided anyways

yeah the game can be fun at times
and for others for sure is fun, I do remember having fun with this game as well but the way its currently handled leads to way more infuriating moments than even mundane or fun ones in my experience
I'm pretty sure I'm the outlier in this anyways but I'm kind of sick and tired of having to deal with not having fun to get to the so called fun part, to then get burnt out because of an absurdly large streak of the game being unfair

then taking a break and coming back having to repeat the whole cycle all over again
maybe I'd find enjoyment again if they made the match making and autobalance actually work
but as it stands I get like only 1 match where I have fun and the rest is the game always leans in a direction to make my gameplay experience unenjoyable

which of course I'll just go play another game if I want to have actual fun leading to my probably low hour count for the community's standards, since I don't like putting up with games when they basically require getting past the phase of hating the game for being unfair during a period of rust to finally get back where I left off, just for that entire build up to get thrown away once I get burnt out

the game is overall fun and addictive from its design and diversity of ships.

Takes ages to make new builds and even then they could easily end up being garbage because of 1 flaw that would take ages to undo. The match making doesn't even take who has what into account resulting in a lot of matches mainly depending on who has higher level weapons or who has more medics. Also you don't get much fun out of the insane amount of time you have to put in to get good at the game, even then only way to consistently win due to your own self improvement is to play with others which isn't something a game should rely on.
