A cult classic for good reason, if you're wanting to get into the remedy games the first Alan Wake is a must. This game's story and the way it written is beyond amazing, and truly captivating story. Great moments all throughout keeping me on my toes and an ending having me excited for the future of this series.

Now gameplay on the other hand is a different story. This is a 2010's action game that has a really cool and unique way of going about combat; the flashlight is a super cool and refreshing mechanic.... until you're fighting the same 2 enemies with it with 1 of 3 different weapons for the whole game. A cool mechanic, it just lost me towards the end. Enemy placement was also a constant frustration. This game has a deep love to pan your camera towards specific enemies when combat starts, only to spawn an enemy or 2 behind you that is completely silent and will stunlock you for the other enemies to come in and also stunlock you. This isn't the biggest deal as you can very easily get out of these situations with stuff like flares or flashbangs, but it is still incredibly annoying.
Overall the gameplay tends to get tedious in certain sections but overall does stay fresh, is it the worst thing ever? No. However it's definitely the low point of this game.

At the end of the day this is a must play if you're a horror fan, a book enjoyer, or just appreciate something that will reward you for picking up on the small details. Don't let what I've said about the gameplay being kinda rough scare you away. This game has an unforgettable story that'll hook and pull you in so quickly and it is so worth it.
