very good game. it's been a while since I really was able to sink my teeth into a new game and it felt like I was enuinely obsessed with something, the last time being this fun littlle thing called embrace of the fog. i played it basically nonstop for weeks, and mewgenics really took me in the way that that game did. it's a game I keep coming back to, and it's not only fun to play, but it's fun to watch. you don't need crazy hyper-optimized cats to win everything, just like hit game tboi, even a pretty dogtier run can win if you're good enough with your tactics. as long as you try to go for basic synergies the game is admittedly not all that difficult; obviously I'm not talking about the postgame but I've also managed to make it to impossible difficulty without relying on crazy mutations. every negative thing in this game has an upside along with the downside (unless your cats are like, inbred. only some of those have upsides) that you can build around. even on launch, the beloathed blood frenzy led to one of the funniest runs I'd ever had, because the cat killed every single other cat on the map, along with the replacement cat it threw at us, while going on to defeat the final boss of act 1 by itself. thank you teddy cat. every negative thing in this game isn't even necessarily negative, it's just an opportunity to pivot to something else. unless you get something that literally hard counters your run, you just gotta adapt. i've always loved roguelikes for that gameplay specifically. i used to absolutely hate getting depression but whenever I get it it's just a big giant -2 to all stats to everyone near you. many of the annoying enemies HATE this. the bunker has so many robots that just explode if you get rid of their extra HP and just tickle them with a shield-piercing attack. my praise for this game is EXTREMELY high but there are genuinely some things that untickle my funny bone. elite modifiers are really really fun, but sometimes there's just a chance to get something that ruins your run. while you can reroll them, i don't think anyone enjoys fighting a depressing boss early, or something with absorbent. absorbent makes me want to cry. it's so good in encounters. and you could technically prepare by making sure you have a way to get rid of all of your mana. but i still think absorbent smells bad.

anyways, to make all of this short, it's an incredibly good game from breadmund mcmuffin that has some minor stinker moments. i love game very much very good yes thank you edmund. i await you graciously feeding us dlc like a baby bird waiting for a meal.
