I would not call this a remaster.

What did we get here ?

Poor AI upscaling
Screen tearing.
Dualsense support via third party program (Honestly the only reason to get this instead of the original)
Minor QoL improvements..
Grade shop from the start (should have stayed a first clear unlock)
No badge despite the original having one.

I'll liekly refund this as it is not worth 60 bucks (not 40 either).

This game is more addictive than crack !

I knew that there was a theft system but apparently you can get falsely accused...
I got accused of ore theft 7th of this month at around 6am... It's TOMORROW !

What would you think if From Software added an easy mode and autoplay to their games ?
If you think "Hell no !" this port is not for you.
Playstation controller support is restricted to wired. It also is a mixbetween PS3 and PS5... and the OG has been a PS3 exclusive for now 15 years !
Steam features are missing.
Skits are bugged...

AVOID AT ALL COST but i highly recommend the og as it is one of the best game in the series.

This is a good games in itself BUT this port is just awful !

Over 200 colectibles
Half-assed controller support...

Get the PS3 version if you can handle the insane amount of collectibles.

So far it's pretty good.
The story is engaging, gameplay is tight, graphics fit the series perfectly and performance is decent despite minor distortions here and there.

However, despite most of their big projects like the remakes of Silent Hill 2; Metal Gear Solid 3 and even the Suikoden remakes having badges : This entry doesn't.
I'll wait for a sale and you should too in order to not normalize backwards decision-making.

Quick reminder : Full game is 90 bucks for 30-35 hours of gameplay.

It brings me to tears to admit as a massive From Software fan :
This is a huge mixed-bag...

Why ?
While the format could be a ton of fun it's only if you have friends to play it with, Balance heavily favors 3 player teams and punishes solo players such as myself.
A lot could have been done such as putting enemies from previous From Software games, not just a few bosses and everything else is pure Elden Ring mobs.
It's also ONE map making it even more repetitive, the more an event is cool the least it can occur (be thankful if you get one every 10+ runs).
For 54.99, i expected a refined experience enjoyable no matter how you choose to play, not a mashup between an heavily limited roguelike with low replayability and a souls game of course.
What i recommend is to play with two friends in short-burst sessions or just skip this altogether.

Remember two things :
This game can still have a redemption arc.
It is directed by Junya Ishizaki, not hidetaka miyazaki.

Buy on sale.

The story of this game is captivating despite a mid ending.

When it comes to gameplay it's similar to AI LIMIT albeit far more limited : Only 3 weapon types + 1 ranged.
Still, it's fun for what it is. The biggest bummer is that it's not souls-lite let alone a souls-like. It' somewhere between an ARPG and a straight up action game (such as Devil May Cry; God of War; Metal Gear Rising...). Combat is precise and deliberate but the flow of combat feels fast. The level structure is a mix between Nioh and Demon's Souls (simplified to hell and back).

It runs perfectly, garphics are good and the Art-style alone got me in.

Total : 8.25/10

While deceived by the nature of this game (Souls-lite), it's a good game in itself. By the way, there's technically a way to pause the game...

What makes this game shine is the gameplay and story if you do it the one right way to get the true ending.
Most quests are missable and the overall level layout can be confusing.
Yes, you can customize the protagonist BUT it is tied to stats and how you can be efficient with your gear.
