A very nice game, not expensive and has tons of replayability

There is a large amount of characters, weapons and builds you can make to challenge yourself!

This is one of the best games I have ever had the joy to play.

Whether you play this singleplayer or multiplayer.
Whether you go with normal or hardcore mode.
Whether you play the base vanilla game or decide to venture into modding.

This game has an absurd amount of content made by the developers and by the community and the content is top notch.

Explore a 2D world full of amazing environments.
Collect an absurd amount of weapons, armors, consumables and cosmetics throughout your journey.
Fight challenging bosses and monsters.
Build extravagant structures for yourself and your NPC.

I nominated this game for the "Labor of Love" award several years now because, honestly, this game and developer fit the bill.
The game has been out for 9 years now and there have been several gigantic updates with tons of new content FOR FREE.
Some of these updates could have easily been a DLCs but instead were just applied as big content patches to the base game.

I cannot recommend this game enough. Even at full price, for what this game offers, it is still cheap.

This game is a masterpiece!

Early Access Review
A game that is Pokémon, meets Metroid and Darkest Dungeon.

Pros:

- The customization of your team. You build up your monsters by spending skill points on a skill tree and the skill trees have a variety of options. The skills trees have a variety of things from new abilities, old ability upgrades, passives, auras and plain ol' stat boosts.

- The huge variety of monsters and the customization of your play style. Each monster has a set of elements or attack types they strong or weak against, which makes you have to try out different monster compositions, in other to beat harder enemies. Also, each monster usually excels at a given task and it is interesting to try and optimize your team in order to maximize your strengths through synergies and minimize your weaknesses. This customization grows even larger once some events in the game transpire, The Shifting happens and now the monsters have a light or dark form which comes with passives and boosts in their stats.

- The map is very fun to explore as they have puzzles, hidden treasures, impassable obstacles that require you to have some kind of monster in other to traverse some kind of impediment or to literally open the path for you.

- There is a huge variety of items with a bunch of stat distributions that add to the customization of your team. Monsters, normally, come with a weapon slot and three item slots. These items can be upgraded with crafting materials you get from defeating monsters in battle.

- The art style, variety of monster designs and soundtrack are all very good!

Cons:

- The battle rating system. The idea is interesting but I think it ends up limiting play styles by removing some from viability in single player as they might be amazing and score maximum points in a category but will lose a lot of points in another, causing your rating to be lower even though you played perfectly. (Example: If you have some tanking strategy that uses shields and heals and DoTs to kill an enemy, you might score max points in keeping your monsters healthy but will score low points with the amount of turns used.)

- While I am ok with the need to farm to get materials, item drops, monster drops and just plain ol' experience to level up your team so you don't get destroyed in a new area, I know there are a lot of people that are not fans of the RPG grind.

- How after the shifting happens, it is best to just part ways with your lower level monsters by giving them to the lad in the stronghold and try to hunt for shifted monsters. This is due to the shifted monsters starting off at a much higher level and already being shifted, so you don't need to use a shifting stone on it.

- How after shifting happens, both light and dark forms are just strictly better than the normal monsters due to the normal monsters not having any passive, and the shifted monsters having no downside. The only upside of not having a shifted monster is that there is a very strong unique item that can only be equipped by unshifted monsters.

The game is a lot of fun and I highly recommend it.

Loved this when I was a kid playing on PS1, a few changes here and there, polishing but it does touch on all those nostalgia points!

There are a few bugs, some are really annoying but it is a great experience overall!

A F2P game where you don't feel like you have to buy anything as it is not pay to win.

Tons of content you get access for "free" (you need to devote time to get access to all of it).

Devs that release expansions for this free game and those are still free.

Suggest that you try it to see if it is something you enjoy as you have nothing to lose.

It is basically good old Age of Empire 2 with a Star Wars skin and a few new features. What's not to love?

This is a pretty good 4X game. I have enjoyed it for quite a while now.

Soundtrack and art style really make this game shine brightly.

It plays well and does as expected of a 4X game.
