Game is pretty nice, but I really don't understand the point of doing a limited-time 1 hour demo when the game has been out for years on epic/xbox

Definitely pretty cool, a mix between OSRS/Vanilla WoW, if the idea of an MMO where you have to read and explore to figure things out, and where you can level any number of skills as you wish, sounds interesting to you I would definitely recommend giving this a try. There is a free demo that is a great option to understand if this is something you'd like or not, give it a spin!

A friend looked at the picture of my notes for the game and said "actual schizo post". 10/10 would schizo post again, signorina.

It's not bad, but it's rather easy. You can complete it in ~2 hours, so I wouldn't pay full price for it. Got it for 50% off and it still fell a bit too short for the price IMHO.

Very nice and short game, if you like this whole wave of "gambling-lite" games where you try to skew probabilities and build powerful combos you will definitely enjoy this.
The only unfortunate thing is that there seems to be a very limited number of viable builds to complete the game, forcing you to pick always the same things, but that also means that you can "finish" the main game in one sitting.

A warning to begin: I experienced a couple of hard crashes during my playthrough that cost me some progress. The autosave feature doesn't kick in as often as it should, in my opinion, so make sure you're saving often. If a crash happens to you, try to rediscover everything you had discovered before. Otherwise, you might think you have something unlocked and go crazy later when you can't figure out how to progress (ask me how I know!).

Apart from that, this is a really well-done puzzle/mystery game with spoopy vibes, absolutely perfect for the Halloween season. If you are familiar with Irish folklore, you are most likely going to enjoy this more than others, but even as someone with cursory knowledge of the topic, I didn't have any trouble (there is a library in the manor where you can read up on relevant topics).

To me, the whole gameplay loop and vibes felt similar to Obra Dinn, and I'd say if you enjoyed that game, it's a pretty safe bet to go for this one as well.

My biggest worry going into it was the "timer" aspect of the gameplay loop, but even without looking anything up, I was able to get to everything I wanted to achieve on my own without really feeling the time constraint. It's possible I missed some bits and pieces along the way, but I don't feel this detracted from my experience. My suggestion would be to play without looking up solutions/walkthroughs and just go with the flow of what mystery pulls you in the most—the narrator even nudges you when you're spending too much time without progressing in the mysteries you should focus on.

As someone who doesn't really enjoy taking notes while playing, I also very much appreciated the mind map of all your discoveries, timetables, and maps. It's always there when you need it but isn't forced on you if you'd prefer to make your own notes.

In closing, this is an enthusiastic recommendation from me; it kept me hooked all the way through, and I had a hard time putting it down. Not sure why Steam is showing my playtime as slightly less than 4 hours, but I completed one full playthrough in two sittings (going to bed at 3 am both times, lol). If I had to guess, it took me around 15-20 hours to beat, and I loved my time with it.

Absolutely loved this game, it is well worth the money. It's brimming with style and overall it's super funny (and fun to play).
I would describe it as Yakuza lite, but absolutely not in a demeaning sense. It is simply faster to 100% and to get through the main story - obviously there are fewer side activities and mini games, but I won't complain, I got a good ~10 hours of enjoyment out of it.

Had decided not to buy it after seeing it played on Twitch. Got around to trying it for myself during the free weekend, and I can confirm my earlier decision. The game is pretty but it is extremely boring to play.

it's just boring to be honest, engaging with this while you know you won't be able to "complete" it (for whatever definition of complete) unless you go in debt for virtual currencies is just a waste of time. Go play any other Persona or SMT game, they are cheaper and better.

Early Access Review
It saddens me to leave a negative review because I always like supporting small indie teams, but I can't in all honesty recommend this game to other people in the state that it's in for 20 euros.
The premise is interesting, the setting and gameplay loop work well, but the whole game is terribly unoptimized and even on the lowest settings it is constantly very noticeably stuttering when performing any action. Going in and out of menu causes multi-second stutters as well. It is really difficult to enjoy your time with the game when you're constantly stopping and starting.
I really hope the devs can spend time optimizing this before it comes out of EA. The graphics are very barebones even at the highest settings, and this should not struggle to run on a 3080+i5 13600k.
