Unironically one of the worst pieces of media ever made, but it's also kinda so bad that it's fun. So much of the game is just laughing my ass off at how bad it is. Don't buy this game, but absolutely watch someone play it online.

Good example of short and sweet. It doesn't over stay it's welcome by bloating the game out (though it does have some new game+ type content after you beat the game if you are still interested). TBH the gameplay isn't anything to write home about. It's a pretty box standard 2-D platformer. But lets be honest, anyone getting this game is doing it for the cutscenes, and yeah they're that good. The perfectly replicate that CDI era of cutscenes. From the voices to the movements to the general awkwardness of it all. These things were designed to have YTPs made from them (and they have been). I don't really have any complaints, aside from some of the hitboxes being a little wack (one of the few CDI elements they replicated a bit too well). It's a great game, just be aware that this isn't a long game, nor one with much in the way of replay value. It's something you play once and never forget cause it was that memorable.

Game runs awfully, barely getting past the main menu. It's easily the weakest of all of Supermassive's games (and honestly the worst cinematic CYOA game). It also has basically nothing to do with DBD beyond some fun references and a semi crossover right at the end.

Has all the same strengths and weaknesses as Hollow Knight. Great music, great level design, great bosses, great visuals, and just overall a great game-feel. Only big complaint for me was the death mechanic of having to go re-gather your money after you died. In a game about exploration and freedom it feels very backwards to basically force the player to have to retry fights until they win rather than letting them leave and try something else. Also the run-backs suck like for real why are these still a thing. Beyond that though, it's a wonderful time and those two things don't bar it from being a 10/10.

The game literally is not finished. After getting to the 10th chapter the game says that "more content is coming soon". This is the same scummy stuff that Bethesda games do. Put the game out unfinished and just say it will be done later. Also I already felt like $8 was a little steep for the first game, and especially the second game, but I was willing to pay it cause the games were nice enough. $15 for this is just not a reasonable price. While I recommend the first two games if you can get them on sale, I would just avoid this one unless you are Monument Valley mega fan #1.

Yeah the outfits are a neat edition, but for $10 you could literally buy a whole Shantae game (Risky's Revenge) which is already better than this one.

I'll say this; the game is for sure fun. If you love the Shantae series then you will for sure love this one. But even as a long time fan myself, I can't deny that this is for sure the weakest entry and by a long shot. It really feels like this was rushed out the door before it was finished.

- No new game+ just seems odd.
- The collectible squids do literally nothing. Like why were these even added?
- It's really short despite being 25$ ($35 with DLC). For reference, here's my play time and achievement % for the other games:
Risky's Revenge - 7.2 hours ($10)(34% achievements)
Pirate's Curse - 10 hours ($20)(68% achievements)
Half-Genie Hero Ultimate Edition - 13.2 hours ($30)(54% achievements)
Seven Sirens - 9.6 hours ($30)(65% achievements)
Risky's Revolution (with DLC) - 6 hours ($35)(93% achievements)
This one has the lowest play time with the highest price, and this is despite me nearly 100% completing it unlike the other games. I mean the fact that you can buy Risky's Revenge and Pirate's Curse (the best one) for the same price as this and its DLC is is just bad. Even if you don't get the DLC (which it's for sure not worth $10) that's still $25 which is more than Risky's Revenge, Pirate's Curse, and Half-Genie Hero (without DLC), any of which I would say are better than this
- I really am not a fan of Limited Run Games and I have no clue why anyone to this day would still work with them. I get it, it's cool to play the game on a real cartridge on a real Game Boy, but is their really no-one else who could do this? Really sucks to know that some of my money goes to them.
- The game also just feels lazy. Like they reuse the same boss 3 times without any changes. He doesn't get harder or anything. It's like they also forgot to add a map which makes navigating the larger area's a chore. Though 9/10 you wont need one cause out of the 10 locations only 4 actually have anything to do (and that's including the main hub). The others are just 1 screen areas where you do some basic story quest and can find 1 hidden collectible.
- Their also isn't really anything that hasn't been seen in other games.

At the end of the day I still had fun playing it, but I constantly had to sit here and wonder, "is this really worth $35?". I mean this game without the DLC costs the same amount as Terraria and Stardew Valley combined. From those two games I've gotten 874 hours and 670 hours respectively. I know that's not an entirely fair comparison (especially since the other Shantae games also cost more than either of these games) but I think my point about this game being way overpriced for the amount of content it has stands. Had this been $10, with just a little extra content, and the DLC outfits being an additional $5, I think it would be a fair deal. As is, I'd only recommend this on a big sale (50% or more) AND if you're a huge Shantae fan who has already played and loved the other games. If that ain't you and it ain't on sale, then I'd spend my money else where.

This really wasn't for me. I like the concept and the environment but the gameplay was lackluster. I'll admit I didn't get all that far but the game did little to keep me engaged and just frustrated me as I progressed. The puzzles often feel less about figuring out how to actually solve them and are more about trying to figure out what the rules of the puzzle even are. While that might be the exact puzzles some people are looking for, for me it's the type of puzzles I hate. Puzzles where I don't even know what I'm suppose to be doing to begin with. The game just throws symbols and shapes on the panels with no context as to what they mean. Perhaps there's easier panels with these unknown symbols that do a better job at teaching me what I'm suppose to do, but if I'm really expected to wander the whole island to find the 1 specific tutorial panel when the game boasts about having over 500 panels, then that's equally as bad as not having a tutorial at all. I enjoyed the panels around the dock (the ones where a yellow line mirrors your movements), because the rules were easily defined, but the process and actions needed to actually make a solution within those rules was fun. Then I found some town area and had truly no clue what to do. I left and found a quarry area but sadly couldn't figure out how to get in. That was when I stopped. I'm glad others can enjoy this, but if what I played is really the whole game and it never changes, then I know this ain't for me.

It takes a very simple concept and does a lot with it. Then (as I wish more games would) it doesn't over stay it's welcome and is over. It's a simple and charming game that's worth trying out (though maybe pick it up on sale. 8$ is a bit steep)

I mean Abomination is a cool character but 10$??? It really feels like Red Hook's idea of what should be a free update and paid DLC are out of wack, considering the Kingdoms mode, the literal entire game overhaul, was given as a free update but a single character was 10$. These really should have been flipped. Also not a fan of Catacombs. Basically forces you to have a move centered party and I'm not a fan of forcing play styles and party comps.
