There's a lot of tension when it comes to crossing the border these days, so I think Canadians have been sticking to their own stores for the time being (we have pretty good produce! :D). I don't think the Canadian dollar has been par with the US dollar in almost 15 years.

Hehe, sore fingers are basically a rite of passage for learning guitar. I’m sure your fingers will get used to the strings over time - are you starting off with acoustic or an electric guitar? Ah, that's pretty cool! I didn’t know it worked like that between Hong Kong and Shenzhen. I can understand why though; if it’s cheaper, I’d probably do the same thing during holidays. The first step to doing something new is always the most difficult. But once you start you may just like it! Which instrument would you like to learn? ^.^ I love chilly and rainy days, the world looks and sounds different when it's gloomy.
