I looked up at the mountain, my mind caught in awe
For she shone through the darkness, as if it were law

The mountain she knew me, she alluded at least
that she was the essence of both man and beast.

The sky was but empty, vast and immense,
while mountain stood present, solid, intense.

What is my purpose, I asked her aloud
But she simply smiled at me, holding answers in shroud.

Words were not spoken, not ever by her
but the way the wind moved, meant more than mere words.

The mountain, you see, is as we wish to be
Serenely defiant, eternally.

So gaze upon mountain and take it all in
She is where we're going, and from where we begin.
