One of the best games I've played in recent memory. A fun adventure, relaxing vibes coloring the world and taking art lessons, and a surprisingly powerful emotional story. Was expecting just a cute little adventure but got so much more from this game.

Unfortunately the base card gameplay is very weak. Easy to break and poorly balanced. Especially problematic as it doesn't give you enough time spent in chapter 1 to really poke at the game's secrets early on.

But in the end the base gameplay isn't the main draw here. This is a Daniel Mullins game. You come here for the ARG nonsense, and this game is full of ARG nonsense.

All of the most frustrating elements of bad point-and-click games, all rolled into one short frustrating experience. Hope you enjoy magic pixel hunting. Is this an item? A path? An interactable area? Or just random background? Who knows? Unclear objectives leave it just shy of actual moon logic. Better just hunt for those pixels and mash everything together in the hopes that something makes sense after you've already done it. And on top of the magic pixel, add in the magic frame. One early "puzzle" is so arbitrarily strict on its timing you're sure to rule it out as a possibility until you find something else. But nope. And of course, to set the tone (despite its incredibly short length), it opens with a complete lack of separation of actions done by the character and somehow magically influenced by your cursor.

It all comes together in a perfect mess of awfulness. Gift it to someone you hate, or torture yourself if you're a complete masochist.

You won't mind dying over and over because it means you get to keep looking at the beautiful art.

Improves on the original in every way. Better engine, smother gameplay, far fewer bugs, fixed up item interactions to add a ton of depth, and of course all the new content.

Controls are unresponsive. 30fps lock just makes it that much worse. Maybe I'm just spoiled by how tight Meat Boy is, but this just feels clunky and unresponsive.

Concept seems fun but the bad controls just hurt the experience too much. I got this in a Humble Bundle, so it's not a big deal, but I would not recommend anyone buy this outright.

Fun concept, amazing music, great story.

Only one complaint that still needs to be stated.

The combat is based around shmup-style dodging and the 30fps lock KILLS that experience. It's just that one part of the game that really needs to run smoothly, but currently fails to.

Please patch this game. Ideally for proper ΔT calculations so it can run uncapped , but if that's beyond your tools or ability then at least a fixed 60.

DO NOT BUY THIS GAME.

There is a gamebreaking crash right before the final boss battle. It has been happening to most users.

Support for the game has been discontinued by the developers, meaning this will NEVER be fixed.

This is a broken product unfit for sale.

I dig this game. It has polish in spades, from the spot-on controls to the rocking soundtrack, the game feel goes deep.

With a gem like this, it would take a lot to soil Yacht Club's reputation.

Mediocre as a game.

Fun references and good for an AVGN fan, but that's about all it offers. Oherwise it's just the most generic indie platformer you could imagine. Not especially difficult, not especially exciting level design, just a bland game skinned with some good AVGN refernces and laughs.

Buy only if you're an AVGN fan. Otherwise you're far better off elsewhere.
