Masterpiece. A clear example that shows videogames CAN be art.

Silent Hill Soulslike. If you enjoy any of those franchises, then don't play this game because it's a disservice to both of them. I got in on 50% discount and I wish I refunded it.

The biggest offender and turnoff is the truly atrocius combat and gameplay loop. Funny enough the game thinks it's good so the longer it goes, the longer the combat sections are, and nearing the end it becomes a total slog to go through. Think about all the annoying things you could think from a soulslike... like fast enemies having hyperarmor, slow movesets, awful stamina regen, low ADP, no poise, durability (!!!), wonky camera angles and the best of all: fighting enemies in tight spaces where your weapon bounces off. This one happens A LOT. It's kind of amazing how after so many years and generations of consoles they still manage to make the combat such ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

Enemy design is uninspired and there's almost no variety. There's not much exploration either, it's a very linear game. And the puzzles aren't even worth a mention. Bosses are ok, but the final one is literally so annoying the game gives you cheatcodes to finish it.

Now, the story is somewhat intriguing but pretty bland, and there's absolutely no subtelty, which is something I EXPECT on a Silent Hill game. To be honest, many of the themes touched on this game were already explored in this same franchise with a lot more tact and nuance. This leaves us with a game that achieves a great atmosphere most of the time and that has some great moments, but it falls apart with a cookie cutter oppresive patriarchy plotline that has already been told more effectively in many other media.

I understand that this game was made to be played more than once, because NG+ seems to add more details story wise, and also lets you unlock the many other endings. I may change my opinion on the story after that, but replaying this now is the last thing I want to do.

Anyways, unlike Capcom who took the reigns of Resident Evil again after going back to its roots, it seems Konami is just going for the full reboot approach and will keep making Silent Hill games that have nothing to do with Silent Hill, other than them having fog and fleshy monsters. Because of course, games that have the "Silent Hill" title sell like hot cakes... it worked with me at least.

Sadly, not a bright future for the franchise.

Simply amazing, a must play for any classic survival horror fan. Easily a 10/10.

This game is a love child of the PS1 Resident Evil and Silent Hill games, without the jank. It still manages to build its own identity with an intricate story, beautiful music and gorgeous visuals. It's obvious that there was a lot of love put into this, we have a real gem here.

Also, it's quite cheap since it's an indie, pretty much a steal. Just buy it already!

Only reason this game does not have an "Overwhelmingly Positive" score is because it gets ball crushing hard near the end.

Still an amazing game and a true succesor of the original trilogy, I didn't expect it to have so much charm and humor in it.

A true gem in this era of bad remakes and even worse reboots.

It's great to see the characters I already loved from hcnone get so much development here!

This game truly is a work of love. The art, the music, the writing; it all makes up to a nice little package that left me wanting more... in a good way of course, I'm not saying the game felt short.

The story in particular also felt very relatable, it manages to blend humor gracefully but at the same time it touches on some real issues we have nowadays, and the whole corporate setting is as real as it can get.

Honestly, I loved every second of this game, for me this is an easy buy... so just buy it already!!!

Probably the most hated RE in history and the most misunderstood. The first time I played this I thought it was the clunkiest RE to date, but after watching some videos on YouTube about combat mechanics it became a whole another world. If only Capcom had taken a moment to make a tutorial for all these mechanics, I'm sure RE6 would be regarded as the most polished action experience in the whole franchise, because it is. Just look it up and see for yourself how fun this game can be. Mercenaries mode is amazing.

Some of the criticism is well deserved of course, the camera gets hijacked many times and you really really want to make sure you max your FOV in your options if you don't want headaches. Level design is more detailed than in earlier entries but also dumbed down. Coop could be better.

Now, there's also many people that like to ♥♥♥♥ on this game parroting the same hypocritical points over and over, pointing out stuff that has been present in the franchise for a long time, making RE6 look like the only ever offender. Without looking too far, somebody else right here is defending QTEs in RE4 and condemning them in RE6... Seriously.

Bad story? Yes, but that wasn't RE's forte ever. If anything, it still has that B movie feeling that has always been a constant in RE. No musical variety? Just try to remember a track from any game that isn't from the original trilogy and its not from a saveroom. Too much of a departure of survival horror? Completely true, but we already said goodbye to horror with RE4, if you consider drunk spaniards and crackhead midgets scary... well... you might as well consider Luigi's Mansion a horror title :^)

All in all, this is a great game; and no, it's not a "good game but a bad Resident Evil", it's just different. If you like action and love the characters of RE, give it a chance, it might surprise you.
