-- About me --
Hi, I’m bibitheclown.
I’ve been on steam for a little while. It’s possible that you’ve seen me in a lobby, or in a game.
I do wander quite a bit.

Games
👾 My most played video game genre are roguelites, but I play just about anything. 👾

Subnautica, one of the best crafting/survival games.

From the environment, the gameplay loop to the design of the game itself, it's great.
Even without the player knowing anything about the game, nor how to craft the items, the game pushes the player in a clever way. Mostly putting adjacent biomes in a form of progression. For example, there's first scanning the Seaglide in the starting area, then learning about the Seamoth for better exploration down the line in the Grassy Plateaus. Thus, making the progression fluid and natural.

In some cases of survival games, or sandbox, there's sometimes the issue of always having to refer to the wiki, (as a wiki-expert myself) which can get old at some point, but it's not even necessary here. Even though there is quite the option in-game, I personally never felt lost in the crafting. In the case that I didn't have the required material, or needed something strange that I'd never seen before, I knew that down the line, I would be able to acquire it.

As for the environment, the map itself is fantastic. It both holds realism, be it from the Kelp Forests or strange formations that could very well be plausible in the real-world, and at the same time sci-fi, with more strange and abstract ones like the Underwater Islands (which I really like). In any case, I don't think the game could get old visually either.

Now as for the gameplay loop, it's kind of like Don't Starve, in a way. Meaning, scavenging, then going back to base, prepping, and then venturing back out. A really solid formula which works. Understandably so, some players also might not like grinding, but here, I'd say it entirely depends on whether or not you'd want a four-story base... or not. Because, you totally could beat the game with a single multi-purpose room. (Although it would feel a bit sad, in my opinion).

In any case, a really solid game overall. Couldn't recommend it enough, it's always great revisiting it.

Enter The Gungeon, is in my opinion the best Roguelite there is.

The RNG factors are well balanced, I use this game as reference quite often. Say, if you do not get a key on a layer, you are guaranteed to have one in the shop. For the chests, the probability of the chest's quality also increases the further layers you go.

The core gameplay is great, the rooms generation are not too repetitive. Even after many many hours of playing the game, it still feels fresh. There's also alternate/secret layers the player can access.

Each character's fun to play, and... I used to not like the pilot, but after a while... after getting better at the game, even he felt great to play as.

You could get a "terrible" run, by not getting high tier weapons, but you could still get by just fine. ( Doing a starter weapon only is realistically possible to do! )

In Enter the Gungeon, the player is certainly rewarded for their skills. Doing a no-hit on a boss gives you a max-health upgrade, not taking damage on an enemy will drop their gold, defeating a cursed enemy will drop additional stuff, and so on.

I've had a blast playing that game.
