Awesome game but it DESPERATELY needs more content. While it's really solid, it dropped very light. There's only 8 missions, and there's a fairly finite amount of things to upgrade. There's not much in the way of character customization, they only have a few outfits each and they're just recolors of their normal outfit. I feel like I don't have much to spend currency on, so that kind of takes the wind out of wanting to grind the missions out.

The gunplay is fun, the missions are cool and I definitely want more. The driving is fantastic too, love the way the game feels as a whole.

I think over time this game will get fleshed out with content, but for now it's pretty bare bones. I think you could in less than maybe 20 hours get to the point you feel like you're out of stuff to do. I will still give it a recommend because it's really fun to play and with Sabre's track record I know it's going to get better and better (Space Marine 2 was the same way, very light on launch but got better with support.)

UPDATE: They added a third server and reinforced them as well, now it plays great and I can totally recommend this game. There are so many cool skills to learn, a cool world to explore and a true feeling of walking into a totally fresh world. I'm constantly learning about new wild things I never expected to see in an MMO. The games graphics are classic and have a ton of charm. There are three races to play as, with more on the way. IF you're looking for a classic MMO without any hand holding, with a great community, look no further. As long as the servers hold up, it's a great game!! I look forward to sinking a lot of time into it!

Original Review: It's a great game, but these devs are really shortsighted. They made an MMO designed for maybe 100 players on a server at a time. However like a lot of games these days they just couldn't fathom more people than that playing, so the game just chokes out when they hit 1k or 2k players. The starter island becomes impossible to complete because veteran players (they're pigs for a week on the new server) are there farming and hogging kills from newbies. If you skip the overcrowded island, you will end up in the crowded main map where people are standing on top of spots with pigs just farming them, so you have to go wander and hunt to find something your underleveled character (that skipped the tutorial) can kill. Eventually when you do that the server will start lagging out with like 5+ seconds of latency because it just cannot handle more than 100 people playing on it at a time.

This game is so cool, and all I want to do right now is play it. But it's unplayable due to it being built for such a small playerbase.

Also shame on the veteran players for all moving to the new server and helping cause this problem. The right thing to do would have been to stand aside for a week on your OG server and let people learn and play, that's why they made you guys pigs...but you can't take the hint and are hogging and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ all over new players experience.

If they address these problems or the game becomes playable I will update my review, because I really want to leave a positive one here. There's so much to love but I can't in good conscience recommend it to anyone in its current state.

I'm a big fan of Jason Trost's work so this was cool as hell to see (If you haven't seen the FP movies, you need to ASAP). I really dig everything about it. I really dig this kind of art and I wish more people would take a chance and make something original like AFAR. I know these projects probably don't make tons of money, but I sure do appreciate the experience.

If you're into indie films, horror, and choose your own adventure style storytelling you'll probably dig this. It's not a traditional video game so know what you're getting into.

I know it's unlikely, but I really want to see more stuff like this (especially from JTRO!)

This was cool for like a week, now everyone just kills on sight and it's the same as every other extraction shooter. I could just play Arena Breakout for free.

Shame, this could really have been special...and it was for a time. Now every single run is a PvP fight.

Early Access Review
This game goes so hard. You either appreciate the obtuse nature of StreumOn games or you don't. Some people not clicking with it on first pass, and that's pretty normal. E.Y.E Divine Cybermancy is a cult classic, but it's an acquired taste and took me a long time to fully appreciate. The combat is easy to learn, but hard to master. The boss fights are challenging and rewarding. My friend and I beat the Door each solo on our first day so ignore anyone telling you it's too difficult, they're just coping. The melee combat is frantic and fast paced, good opportunities for parries and positioning. The feeling of a decapitation is just warm and fuzzy. Once you get the feel of a weapon you really like, the game just flows like water. The writing is cryptic, as if everything is a riddle and I love it. the art style is incredible, and totally a big step up for this universe. The soundtrack is great, atmosphere is spot on. I'm going to be digging into this game for a long time.

TL:DR; this is like Vermintide + Amid Evil, cryptic writing, obtuse delivery, and a certain level of jank that only comes from StreumOn games that certain insane people have an appreciation for.

WARNING: The MP is full of EGREGIOUS bugs, crashes and problems that will ruin your runs. I had multiple crashes in one session trying to play MP.

This project kicks ass, and I have zero qualms about picking up some skins to support it.

Love the bear related stuff in here, I feel seen.

This game is awesome. I really held off for a long time because of the tone of the game, but I will say that VOID handled this subject matter with excellent tact. The game actively encourages taking the more difficult route of non-lethal operations. Doing that is very hard, but it gets you the coveted "S" ranking on the mission. I like the self imposed difficulty that affords, beating the missions with conventional lethal means is typically a lot easier, but you won't get a good score. It's a nice option to just bust out the big guns when you get frustrated and blast through a level lol.

I enjoy doing solo runs, giving the bots orders and taking my time to go for that "S" rank. Really takes me back to the old Rainbow Six 3 or SWAT 4. Playing with some friends is a great time too, lots of room for wild encounters and laughs along the way. The DLCs are pretty good too, definitely worth the extra levels when they're on sale.

If you're on the fence like I was, give it a go. You won't be disappointed.

Great game, the publisher is absolutely rancid though.
I got this because these are great developers and they deserve the support for making such a good game. Helldivers™ 2 is fantastic and best enjoyed with friends. This is how live service games should be done, an awesome battlepass that lets you earn the premium currency from playing. Lots of fun weapons and gear to mix and match for powerful builds. I can't get enough, well done Arrowhead.

They've taken steps to reduce the install size and work on the performance. They still did some content creators dirty though.
