This is kind of Papers Please meets Lovecraft in the best way possible. There'll be choices to make and at some moments you'll be doubting yourself (or just like, doubting myself for 99% of the game) but the plot is incredibly interesting and keeps you interested all the way through. If you're a fan of lovecraftian horror you'll have a grand old time with this!

When I started playing this game, I thought it was gonna be a simple homage to Half-Life. But, as it went on, it became one of my favorite survival-game experiences out there, and that's coming from someone who doesn't usually play games like this. This game is full of different deep mechanics and quite the interesting lore to uncover. I totally recommend it!

Kinda janky and rough around the edges, clearly an indie game, but it's got a lot of charm to it and it's an experience everyone should have at least once for the sake of it!

My brain will never recover from the mental gymnastics it had to make to solve some of these puzzles

If space itself and deep waters didn't activate my phobias enough, they had to make a horror-centric DLC
Thank you very much 10/10 would do it again

I wish I could erase my memories and experience this masterpiece again, simply no flaws to it

I put a lot of thought into this, because I was very excited to play this game and got hyped up by a friend. The game is pretty good, definitely an above-average experience. However, it's a little rough around the edges, so here's my SPOILERY THOUGHTS AHEAD. For a non-spoilery TL;DR check the end :

Music
Fantastic, nothing to say about that, simply fantastic

Graphics
Really good, it's an extremely gorgeous game! I do wish rain actually made it harder to see so we used the wipers more often

Gameplay
It's a bit stale, even if you like survival crafting games. Scrounging for resources to upgrade your car is engaging for only so long.
There's stuff that you can do with your car in the garage, the whole quirk mechanic is very fun, but sincerely I felt like they could've done more with it, but maybe I'm being overly-critical.

Ironically, I feel like the game could've used more "Driving Segments". There's a lot of driving around, and a lot of cool moments can happen... But they're all EMERGENT GAMEPLAY moments
What I wish for is more set pieces where the game makes more use of the fact that you're in a car to deliver cool moments, instead of relying on the emergent roguelike elements

What are the segments I consider true hand-crafted set pieces? You have the ramp you drive into Cappy, but that was so fast it felt anticlimactic;
Driving into the pipes into the Mid Zone was a bit understated but a cool moment;
You had the gate powering segments in the Deep Zone, they were pretty good and what I wish we had more of, more "racing segments";
Then you have the very final gateway where things are going crazy and you gotta drive through it all, that was really good! But these moments are few and far between.

The anomalies were great though, very uncanny, I loved them. Although, I'd have loved to see at least ONE actively really aggressive anomaly, c'mon there's giant eggs in the swamps!

Story
Sigh I'm sorry to say this, but the story was kind of a nothingburger, especially with how hyped this game was to me
The characters were bland at the start: generic dude who doesn't get science, stammering scientist with "Uhm acthually" voice and Generic Old British Woman #2

They bicker quite a lot and Oppy isn't that nice to you, so that doesn't endear them at all to me
The dialogue happens while you're driving... What if you can't hear it because the game is trying to kill you? Well, read the subti-- oh wait how can you drive AND read through hazards? See my issue?

So, a plot that is very vague through the logs, plus a story and characters that are hard to even listen to depending on how focused you are on not exploding on the road
Things slow down a bit later, but when I was finally getting a bit attached to them? Boom, one character dies and oops game ends!
And the ending is... Extremely underwhelming. Like, aghast at how underwhelming it was. 90% of the final mission is just listening to dialogue while you walk through "Generic Indie Horror Game Hallway Number 26", an admittedly cool but extremely short driving segment... And end???

Final Thoughts
It was fun, but I wish it was more Survival Driving than Crafting Driving.
It's not a bad experience, I am definitely glad to have played it and I'd very much recommend it to people.

Just keep in mind that if you were looking for a "cool car survival horror game", you're going to be a bit disappointed as it's more of a "drive from point A to point B survival crafting game" where there's not much horror to it besides the atmosphere, or one or two anomalies.

The driving around and scrounging for resources can get a bit stale and, if you know this kind of gameplay wouldn't endear itself to you, then don't go for this game. Otherwise, give it a shot, you might like it!

A bit rough around the edges, but it got a massive amount of charm that definitely makes up for it
Excited to play the sequel and see more of this world!

Also it got hot aliens in it, what else could you want?

It started quite decently, the whole idea of being in the oil rig after the events of the original game but... as the DLC went on it just... couldn't deliver. The gameplay is too simplistic, but since it's underwater it's also too floaty to control and it felt kinda bad at times. The story was the most interesting bit, but this time the events and gameplay didn't have a strong presentation like the original campaign, so it just felt extremely underwhelming... plus the final bits felt like they were rushed to get the DLC out the door.

I don't think I could recommend it to anyone, even if you really really REALLY loved the lore for the original game and wanted to see a continuation to it.
