Static Dread: the Lighthouse is a great game in the style of Papers, Please, but with one of the best executions of Lovecraftian theme that keeps the tension high the whole time. The gameplay is easy to pick up, but the pressure builds quickly as your decisions start to matter more.

The retro visuals look great, and the film grain and chromatic aberration effects add a lot to the atmosphere. With chunky textures and beautifully redone characters. It really feels like you're looking at something old and slightly damaged, which fits the tone of the game well.

The characters are memorable enough for an 8hr game, and over time you start to recognize them and hope you made the right choices, or maybe the wrong ones. There’s a constant sense of dread, especially when making decisions. Many choices feel unclear, and it’s not always obvious what the “right” answer is, which adds to the tension.

There’s enough branching dialogue, achievements, with multiple endings, the game good replay value.
