Might sound ironic, but what convinced me to go back and review this game was its second iteration.

Into the Radius is, in retrospect, a fairly simple game, with little enemy variety and somewhat bland, same-ish looking locations/maps. While this might not sound too great, the little it does, intentional or not, it does perfectly.

Progression feels rewarding, difficulty feels just right (You can fine-tune a lot of aspects if you wish to) atmosphere feels unique. While it is hard to not compare it to the Stalker/Metro series, I feel like ITR is different enough to be its own thing, despite taking clear inspirations from those. Looting, maintaining your equipment, managing inventory... Everything just blends nicely.

Another thing I appreciate: This game respects you as a player. No overly intrusive tutorials, no yellow paint, no flashing arrows. Being able to immerse yourself and learn as you go feels especially refreshing considering today's gaming market.

And the cherry on top: It has mods, which are fairly easy to set up. Scavenger mod specifically gets an honorable mention from me, as it fits this game so well I feel like it almost should be the intended way to play.

Early Access Review
When it released 5 years ago, initial impressions were positive, and for a good while it seemed like it was heading in the right direction. However, looking at the state that it is in today, I can hardly recommend it.

New items were welcome at first, since they added an improved progression system to the game, but in the end they practically did the exact same thing the old items did—just better (or worse). To this day (5 years in early access) they still have no animations, neither for walking with the item in hand, nor for interacting with them.

New maps are aesthetically very pleasing and fit the theme quite well, but are absolute ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ to play on. The latest release, the updated Grafton Farmhouse, is too dark even when using a flashlight, and has too much clutter littered around. (Again, it fits the theme perfectly, but gameplay-wise it just means you'll keep getting stuck on things that you can't see, which can be a real hassle.)
Also, every "remade" map removes its original counterpart, which can never be played again (4 maps have been removed so far)

Photo/Media system had long needed a rework, with most of the community and the game's biggest content creators begging on their knees for them to add a simple fix that would've made the old system far more bearable, yet it took them years to address that. Now the entire Media system is reworked, and while at first it might seem interesting, once again, it's a pain to play. Constantly needing to check with teammates which video/photos/audio they already got gets very annoying, since you can't get duplicates anymore. Very often the recording will fail, and you'll still get the "Phasmophobia classic" ("Object thrown" duplicate photo when the ghost is perfectly centered in the image and nothing else in view). Audio recording will only count if you start recording before actually hearing what you are recording, which prevents you from checking whether you're not getting a duplicate.

Updates that were promised to us years ago are still unreleased, like character customization and Horror 2.0. They have apparently given up on roadmaps, seeing that it's too hard to maintain their already lenient release schedule.

They never post patch notes directly on steam, only a link to their website. Why? Well, maybe you'll wander into their merch section and get yourself a sweet TEMU-quality T-shirt for like $30. Or maybe a hoodie for $75? Levels of shamelessness and greed that would make Ubisoft blush.

I could go on and on, but I think that's enough to make my point. In all honesty, if you're buying this to play with 1-3 other friends, you'll hardly regret it. But seeing how the dev team has behaved over the years I simply cannot bring myself to recommend this to anyone. It is EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING seeing an update notice on Steam, only for it to be yet another merch drop. The game recently made its 5-year anniversary (2 days ago from the writing of this review). And how do we celebrate that? With another ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ merch drop of course! Better make more money!

Dude's already probably made hundreds of thousands of dollars with a game that was for the most part an asset flip, but that is apparently not enough.

TL;DR biblical levels of greed and sloth

can't even run it (10-15 fps low settings/ GTX 760, 14 gb RAM) and couldn't refund it.

it's still early acess and a expansion pack has recently came out.

They're more worried in making money than fixing the game, just like most of those open world survivals out there. Saddening to be honest, i actually had some hope for this game
