A really fun little puzzle game with some genuinely difficult levels and an undeniable charm.

Woah, someone put a 'falling sand game' into my dualstick shooter.

Apparently the original name of this game was going to be 'PixelJunk Elements' and that's a way better description than 'Shooter.' As the game progresses, navagating the environment becomes the primary challenge over the (mostly uninspired) enemies. PixelJunk Shooter is fun and I like the aesthetic quite a bit, but I feel like there's too long of a rampup to the interesting mechanics and clever stages. If you can stick with it through the first world, it pays off.

The graphics, sound, and story are ultimately forgettable, but if you're in the market for a brutally difficult action-puzzle game, this is it. Worth a try, but be warned that many of the levels (and certainly the achievements) require perfect planning and execution.

About halfway through my most recent playthrough of Eldritch, I realized I'd stopped playing it like Doom and started playing it like Thief. That was a very cool achievement for a roguelike (albeit one that plays more like Spleunky than Nethack). The game has consistently surprised me, from the enemy variety to the well-crafted 3d random level generation. Even the voxel art style isn't as obnoxious as I'd expected. I'm not sure how Eldritch will hold my interest in the long-term, but it accomplishes a lot with a little and I really respect that.

I am angry by how much fun this stupid game is.

This is the perfect stealth game. The controls are tight, there are many ways to overcome each obisticle, and the game finds a way to reward you for whichever playstyle you choose to use. All that, and it looks like a saturday morning cartoon.

This is the best game. Play this game.
