Classic platforming that feels familiar, with a Japanese mythology flavor and certain fresh twists. A small bit of confusion and jank on release but full of heart. The voice acting is kinda cute without overstaying and it gives some nice context and personality.

Truly extraordinary. The interactive storycraft at work here is enthralling, with tremendous talent in the depiction of characters and situations. The mechanics are astounding as well, offering compelling expression of creative problem-solving and exploration.

Really fun, in profoundly surprising ways. If you have just the lightest interest in roleplaying games, try this!

Full of heart and great style.

From the industry perspective: please take the greed out of the game industry and replace it with fun again.

Let's fight shifty data collection in real life, too: fight KOSA, using the tool on the EFF site.

Good for Sony, for doing what's right: they gave up on their shifty play for data collection.

The game itself: a rip-roarin' great time. Bravo, devs!

Don't overlook this! It's an underrated gem, especially for lovers of fresh twists on classic formulas.

Huntdown drips with style. It draws from a retro-future aesthetic and tweaks it in clever ways that bring freshness to each area, enemy, and level design.

Huntdown nails its gameplay. It's going for a certain genre of side-scrolling action platforming, and it really offers an experience that feels tight, tough, and fair.

The sound design deserves a nod for its iconic magic. The visual designers were pretty genius too.

This game is broken up into small stages that connect in a cohesive whole. It's easy to pick up and play in short bursts. It's very satisfying to work your way through. It's not super long since a single playthrough could be 7-9 hours, but it seems pretty replayable due to the multiple character abilities and the rampant secret areas.

If you enjoy story, this game will walk you through fascinating scenes and wicked plot developments. If you enjoy light spirits, the irreverent, free-flowing banter has got you covered. If you enjoy engaging characters, the quirky madcap team members touch upon greater depth and transformation than you might expect. If you appreciate interesting design and impressive visual impact, this game is very striking, and up there with leading games. Expect some occasional glitch or jank, but don't let it stop you. If you care about satisfying high-reflex combat mechanics, watch a review or two about the specifics of this since it's pretty loose and unique. I'm so glad I played this: I'm impressed, impacted, and I had a lot of fun.

This game has heart, and style. It is super lovable. It seems flirty and funny and rather welcoming to various sexualities, genders, and whims, haha. I'm not sure how replayable this is but I have no doubt that I'll explore it again soon.

This game scratches a gaming itch for me in an incomparable way. The gameplay loop of exploring, scanning, discovering, and building is all rather mesmerizing and satisfying in No Man's Sky. The closest I've found might be Subnautica.

Really, really wild. The atmosphere is perpetually eerie and impactful, shifting from one gameplay context to the next with a feeling of seamless continuity. It's on mobile as well, I discovered later -- consider playing it on tablet.

Firewatch is quite refreshing and different.

I found it hard to get into at first, since it can feel a fit aimless. As a gamer, you'll be looking for objectives and gameplay, and yet this is an experience to go into with a fresh perspective and an open mind.

It's an experience. It comes from walking in the shoes of the character. It has a subtle haunting tone of mystery to it. It feels like living life in another's shoes for a bit.

Playing this offers a fresh perspective on your own humanity, and that of others. It's an interesting experience to go through, and may give you a fresh view on guilt, escapism, and resolve.

4-5 hours. Play it for a night or two for a fresh break from the usual. Enjoy!
