Can't recommend in this state.

Matchmaking for both competitive and casual is ridiculous/on crack/nonexistent. When I wanted to do my placement matches with my full team of first timers we were put into a lobby against FULL PLATINUMS. All casual matches consist of the enemy team being all either
- console players
- over level 50s
or
- under level 20s

Balance remains to be seen.

For some godforsaken reason console players can turn off crossplay but PC players can't? Which makes even less sense once you played against console users because of their aim-assist that feels borderline illegal. IMO crossplay should have never been a thing in video games at all.

Don't get me wrong, the gunplay is buttery smooth and the concept of a portal shooter is something we sorely needed and is so much fun to play but the balancing in general is completely out of wack. Not to mention the heat-seeking baseball bat.

1047 Games may have removed the (Beta) out of their game title but it does not feel like that at all and comes across as a fair bit misleading.

Also, I know this is a F2P game, but get rid of the challenges ♥♥♥♥ already. Nearly all modern shooters suffer from this forced "gameplay" progression ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that completely kills any natural recurring playing enthusiasm. It turns every gamemode that's part of the challenges into a sweat feast for people that bumrush everywhere to get their 17th skin for the carbine or whatever.
Daily challenges were a neat idea at first and quickly turned it into a chore that weighs down your rank.

Maybe just ask for 25 bucks for the game, get rid of the dumb lootbox ♥♥♥♥ and incentivize people with convincing gameplay? No, of course everyone nowadays has to take the fortnite route with battle passes and seasons and loot llamas.


For what the developers claim is a Halo-inspired shooter of the new generation, we get something that may have a solid gunplay foundation but mixes it with the Software-as-a-Service idiosyncrasies of our time and a product that needs far more polishing to be attractive for me as a F2P title.

Time to get back to Team Fortr-oh... yeah... ♥♥♥♥.

Even after the Beyond update the game runs like absolute garbage in VR and is unoptimized. Very disappointed, desktop version runs fine. Still can't recommend the game because of its launch.
