Ater having 400 hours on ARC and almost 1200 hours on Steam, I do have a fairly good understanding on how the game works

Firstly the main question, would I recommend Star Trek Online to anyone? Yes I would due to the fact the game can be played by people who aren't Star Trek fans in the first place as it doesn't evolve around the story of the movies and TV series that much apart from showing a few characters and names being thrown around a bit.

From the start of the game you can choose to start your Star Trek career as either part of Starfleet, Klingon Defence Force or the Romulan Republic. You also choose you career path as a Tactical, Science or Engineer officer which cannot be changed once selected so choose carefully, the gameplay can change just a little by the career path that you choose. The character customisation goes very in depth on how much you want to customise your character, which you can change throughout the game at the tailor.

For the combat aspect of the game you have both ground and space combat, the ground combat aspect of the game has different ways of combat to either give you an advantage or disadvantage durign combat for example, using a phaser rifle you get at the start of the game at the max level can give you a disadvantage, whereas using a rifle or pistol of different varieties such as Plasma, Phaser, Anti-proton or Disrupter againest people who each deals the most damage to them. For space comabt you have different bridge officers you can recruit to your ship to aid you in combat, with the space combat ties with rougly 60% of the game compared to ground comabt which roughly takes up 40% of the game. Space combat can be fought with different types of ships called Escorts, Cruisers, Science cruiser etc etc, each ship plays a different role in combat in the game, you can equipt your ship with different types of phasers, cannons and torpedoes, you can also equipt different 'consoles' to your ship as Tactical, Science and Engineer, your chances in combat can change very quick depending on the consoles that you have equipped on your ship.

Every 10 levels you are given a better more powerful ship to use in game up until level 50 from then there are 3 different ways to get more ships for yourself which are buying from with real money, buying ships with in game money that you earn through missions and such and the last way is to join a fleet (guild) and use fleet creddits to buy fleet ships.

There is lots of end game content once you hit max level (level 60) there is always the 'episodes' as there known as since there are lots of them to do and they have a great storyline which involves the decisions from yourself can alter the story for yourself, there is also PVP and PVE lobbys to do which are fun to do with players that have a good understanding of the game, you can also do whats known as foundery missions which are missions made by the community which are really fun to do depending on if the mission is made well and not something that was stuck together in 10 minutes by someone who doesn't care.

In all, would I recommend Star Trek Online to people? Yes I would
