Some of the game mechanics and fights are frustrating and really should be altered. Overall though, the art-style is great, and the vibes are excellent. It's a surprisingly addictive game, and it may be the case that if it wasn't a bit frustrating, then it might not also be quite as addictive. It is like many other rogue-lite games, in the sense that good RNG can make a run totally broken, or can just cause a run to basically be a waste of time.

Unique art style, unsettling game.

It's... an interesting experience, but just does not work. The game is very glitchy, and overall settings options are horribly outdated. The movement is obviously atrocious. The graphics look horrible, and the visual aesthetic does not help. Everything is incredibly dull looking. All of this would maybe be slightly okay if shooting people actually felt fun, but it doesn't. This is maybe worth a single session, if you're curious, but I couldn't imagine someone playing the campaign all the way through without a decent dose of nostalgia to fuel it.

I actually made a finished little video game project using this program! It was a fun experience, and I enjoyed working with RPG Maker XP. Overall though, while I appreciated the simplicity, I don't think that I would return to using RPG Maker XP for another project. It's a bit limited, it can be difficult to find resources too, as lots of tutorials are for newer version of RPG Maker.

Is there even any point to leaving a review on a game like this? I don't know. I enjoyed it.

I mean, yeah it's fun to shoot people in this game. It's pretty buggy and there were a few times where I got soft-locked due to glitches. The story is atrocious, just horribly bad. Seriously, even a tiny bit of effort being put into the story would have been great. Also this game is pretty ugly. Seriously, just the most dull, bland, headache-inducing color palette ever. Occasionally, there are bright, vibrant, interesting, open environments. They do not last long. If I could give it a neutral rating instead of positive or negative, then that is what I would select.

Fun for a little bit, but quickly gets boring. The combat feels too basic, but the survival/base building mechanics are also too basic, so while there is some variety everything quickly becomes dull.

Simple concept executed decently well. There isn't any way to really fail in the story mode, which is fine, you can take your time and essentially just enjoy the tasks that you're required to do. The jump scares are certainly cheap, but they do work, I did get startled a few times. Overall, it's a neat little experience and I am glad that I played it.

It's impossible to really control the pan. Makes the game horribly unfun to play. I spent probably 20 minutes trying to get through the first egg. Buggy mess. High sensitivity and it just flies out. Low sensitivity it's so non-responsive that it's hard to control. The egg does not cook even while moving the mouse, like it's not even touching the pan. Skip this mess of a game. My hand hurts after this as well.

Fantastic story exploring themes of identity, misogyny, and societal expectations, among a variety of other story beats and character backgrounds. The sound design and music are probably some of the best in the medium of video games, flat out for right now. The graphics are utterly incredibly, like it is truly remarkable just how pretty the game looks at points, but it doesn't run well and graphical glitches are present. The combat is decent enough, or just passable, but the limited enemy roster and unbalanced item and weapon resources all come together to make an acceptably awkward gameplay experience. The puzzles are just not very good for the most part. The acting is very well done and the cutscenes all hit incredibly hard. The environmental design of most of the areas is interesting, with the school being a special highlight. Overall, while plenty of aspects of the game are lacking, the holistic experience and story are so exceptional that I feel quite a bit of hope in not just the future of the Silent Hill franchise, but in the future of Horror games as a medium.
