Such a fun an original gameplay concept, trying to figure out what was happening based on context clues was a perfectly balanced challenge. I love that the game doesn't tell you if what you've decided a word means is correct, everything is genuinely up to your unique interpretation of things, and was so interesting to dive into the community after completeing the game and realise that people interpreted certain words differently to me and we both still understood the story.

The gameplay loop is interesting enough, it gives you everything you need to work things out if you're switched on enough to understand it. But of course it has a set narrative at the end of the day, and some of the endings in particular I found to land a bit flat if you haven't gotten a lot of words done as the correct intended meaning. But once you manage to understand the intended interpretation of the narrative, I found it to be a compelling and emotionally charged story that gives a lot of new meaning and perspective on repeat playthroughts.

Overall, definitely would recommened for a fun, albeit short, immersive narrative.

Amazing game, the facial expression capture technology still holds up after 15 years! Some may think that the realistic expressions on an animated body could find itself in the uncanny valley, but that was not my experience. I found that the realistic facial expressions along with the motion capture and incredible performances from the actors made for a super immersive experience.

The gameplay loop is very fun as well, I found it had a perfect balance of quiet and more action packed sequences. Not to mention all the street crime sidequests and the ability to free roam in between parts of missions, it really lets you feel like you are experiencing this immersive world that they've built.

With it taking me about 25 hours of playtime to complete the main game, and plenty more sidequests to finish off, there's no shortage of fun content in this game. Definitely would recommend!

Incredible absolutely, one of my favourite games of all time!

So many choose your own adventure style games can fall into the trap of having not much replayability, due to choices actually just changing some dialogue a bit and ending up at the same points. But Not For Broadcast has so many details, so many branching paths, so many moving parts, it stays incredibly interesting on repeat playthroughs.

Not to mention the fact that it utilises full motion video, meaning this incredible world that they've built for you to interact with feels even more immersive when you're seeing live action people live in it. For a game that revolves around looking at things on screens, it makes you feel so immersed in a world with believable characters and world building!

Taking the DLC into account as well (which all have enough content that they could honestly just be their own games as well), there's so much to do and enjoy with this game. Almost 80 hours of playtime as I write this, and I still haven't 100% completed everything, and only gotten about half of the possible endings to the main game.

If you're looking for a game with an amazing immersive storyline you can slot yourself into, an enjoyable gameplay loop, and loveable comedic characters intertwined with dark and serious themes, I cannot reccommed this enough!!

Amazing game that is still great 15 years after its original release, with an immersive storyline. Similar to the original Half Life game, i love that Half Life 2 never directly tells you anything, and let you explore the world around you. It has a variety of different experiences from chapter to chapter, with everything from driving on a boat along a river of toxic waste to picking up enemies and flinging them around in the citadel.

The only 3 problems I had with this game were:

1. The AI of the combine was lacking in comparison to the marines from the original game. In the original 1998 game, the marines would actually be in groups, flank, have a sense of self preservation etc. In Half Life 2, the combine pretty much just run at you and die.

2, The original Half Life, in my opinion, had a larger arsenal of weapons with a wider variety of different types of weapons. The 1998 game had the hivehand, the snarks, the gluon gun, the tau cannon, etc. In Half Life 2, there's the gravity gun and that's about all as far as unique weapons go.

3. This is only a small problem, but i found my self frustrated both at the end of the Sandtraps chapter and in the Anticitizen One chapter. The antlions in the former would always get in my way, and in one playthrough one jumped up in front of me, causing me to fall as i was jumping across a ledge to my death. The citizens that follow you and """""help""""" you in latter are constantly standing in the way, especially in the indoor sections.

Overall, Half Life 2 is an amazing game that definitely is worth purchasing, and it makes you feel immersed in the beautifully written storyline.

emotional oof

ok but seriously, this game is great, but definitely not in the way I was expecting. Judging by the name of this game, I thought this was going to be the creator of the Stanley Parable talking about his experience with game making, and maybe how he got the idea for the Stanley Parable. But that is not what this is. Without giving away too much, this game starts off the way you expect, but by the end you feel like a part of the relationship between these people. You feel like you are responsible for some of the bad decisions that led to the Beginner's Guide being created. And that's why I love this game. It is put together well and is one of the few games i've been completely engrossed in (and felt so positively about it that I wrote a review this long).

In short, buy this game. You may feel a little sad at the end, but it is an amazing story.
