I would not only like to recommend this game to anyone interested in a rouge-like-ified Diablo experience, but also for anyone interested in history. This game takes place during the Canudos War in Brazil, an event I knew nothing about prior to playing this game. It has been an extremely rewarding experience to research this awful event alongside playing this game.

The horrific events that took place in Canudos are probably unfamiliar to many non-Portuguese speaking people, and what sources that are easily accessible on the internet do not tell the full story. I have read many a Wikipedia article and the page on the Canudos War has a very strong viewpoint in favor of the new but deeply flawed Brazilian Republic. Through researching I have found a tale of what it means to create a nation and a people, and what happens when the people of the land are excluded from that nation.

If you are as interested as I am I would recommend finding a copy of Vale of Tears by Robert Levine - a retrospective on the state of Brazil and the events of the war, or Rebellion in the Backlands by Euclides da Cunha - The first hand account of the war that has gone on to become one of the most important pieces of Brazilian literature (Caution, da Cunha has some extraordinarily outdated ideas about race, though that often comes into conflict with his otherwise respectful and reverent depiction of the Canudenses).

I think Hell Clock is a must play for anyone who is interested in how video games can educate people and drive a sense meaning for a particular event. I know its unlikely, but I hope Hell Clock can lead to more historically driving games that uncover events not shown in pop culture.

Enjoyable incremental game. Story is a bit predictable, but it's still entertaining. Glad to find an incremental game that doesn't overstay its welcome and still delivers a satisfying narrative. Soundtrack is also great to jam to while playing.

Very enjoyable tactical game. Easy to adjust difficulty if needed. I am really enjoying the class system where you can apply other classes abilities and find interesting combinations.

Great characters and story. Seems to offer many different options for the player to choose. Combat is too simple to really be intriguing, but I made story choices that stunted how many options I got. I hope there is potential for a sequel with a different combat system. I recommend playing with the Polish dub, some of the English performances is lacking and its weird that half of Warsaw seems to be from Britain in the English version

May not be the game for everyone, but it really is a beautiful game. If you are a fan of great character and art work it is a fantastic experience.

I play the game in real life and while this is a great way to learn it is not a cheap substitute for Magic: Online. I found the lack of deck customization disapointing.
