Didn't play it for too long, got this game free with my AMD GPU. First impressions put me off. Story seems very bland with no structure. Seems more of a graphics showcase for a game engine than an actual game. Maybe I'll give it another go sometime, but for now, I can't recommend anyone pay the full price tag for it.

I've not played any extraction shooters like Tarkov so this was a fresh game for me. Think they have a very solid game at launch. It's not very hard to pickup. The tutorial at the start does a great job giving you a bare bones run down of the game & the starting zones are filled with friendly people who won't shoot unless shot at (pros and cons to this). The game seems well optimized, I have a 2060 super and get around 80 FPS consistently throughout the map.
I only worry for the long term appeal for this game. Embark have a roadmap out with the usual new maps + new climate events which isn't really a roadmap that makes me go "Damn I'm gonna be playing this for months". This mostly has to do with the PVP being too flat. Players just don't have the need to shoot down other raiders cuz the loot is abundant. The rare items need something more than sale value attached to them so players will hunt down other raiders in search of these. Also really wish the additional skins were unlock-able with feats and quests in game.

Didn't even try the campaign, given that everyone hated it. Multiplayer was okayish. No one was playing the objective, just a bunch of people running around farming kills. It was fun, but I prefer games with more teamwork and comms. No one here had a mic, it was all chat. Ended up refunding the game.

I've been on and off since the orange box days. Nice of Valve to make it F2P. There's a lot more players on it because of that.
About the game: It's not been updated in forever and the casual match making is kinda dead. Community servers are thriving but you're going to be stuck listening to the struggles of a 15 year old and a "friendly" who just wants to drive around in a box and not play the game.
Kinda mixed on my recommendation.

Spent many an hour on this game back when it came out and when servers were full. It had fun custom maps at its prime. It's still a game I go back every now and then. It's nice to see active servers. 100% recommend if you want a cheap and fun WW2 game built on the greatest engine.

First impressions after 1 game -

The game looks great. It is super easy to understand if you've played similar games. The only downside for me is the combat. It doesn't feel as smooth as other games. The ADS animation is a bit slow and clunky. I am however excited to see where this game goes! Hope the devs keep working on it.

The game has a great combat system and looks great for a FTP. However, I dislike the quests and the fact that you get to skip through almost everything aaaand the pay to win mechanics. As someone who used to play a lot of World of Warcraft, I know that the reason people stuck around even after Blizzard pumped out bad expansion after expansion is because the game made you work for your gear so you felt a sense of achievement when you finally get it. Sure Wow lets you get gold by selling wow tokens and you could go to a third party and buy a raid carry, but you'd still have to play the raid and rely on getting the gear you needed by chance. Here, you have the option of paying your way to the top. This for me makes an MMO automatically less fun.

Nothing impressive. ♥♥♥♥♥♥ textures, bad maintenance, devs focus on issues nobody cares about.

However it has given me hours of entertainment so I'll give it a thumbs up.

All in all a below average game with a fair share of hackers.

Oh man. This is easily the best modern day Star Wars game I've played. The story line is rich, without any glaring plot holes and in my opinion enough to have a trilogy based on it (*cough* Disney listen up *cough*).
When it comes to gameplay, I do recommend a controller. Some of the combos are kinda hard to master on the keyboard. I had to turn down the difficulty to keep up with boss fights. Which brings me to the difficulty levels - there's something for everyone! This is a game that's crazy enjoyable even on the easiest setting thanks to the story. Really glad for the Star Wars day sale!

Early Access Review
This isn't your regular COD/BF style FPS game. The maps are beautiful and accurate, the warfare is realistic - every shot is fatal. Communicating with your squad and sticking together is key rather than venturing out solo. The learning curve is pretty steep, it took me a while to even figure out where I was getting shot from. Once you're used to it, you're watching your corners and having fun in no time!
EDIT: I realized I only had 20 hours at the time of review. Now with 700+ hours, I still recommend this game, with some considerations. You're not always going to have a squad that communicates. Every game has rounds that suck, in HLL those rounds last 1.5 hours. If you're a new player, do others & yourself a favour and go support or rifleman. Do not be a squad leader. If you want to try tanks, go to an empty server and learn before jumping into a full game.
EDIT: Now with even more time playing lol. The latest updates have been a mixed bag, The game did crash a ton initially, but has been patched now. I haven't had a crash in the last week. There is still work to be done - the server queues and game menus are annoying. If the game does crash, all settings are reverted to defaults which means 20 mins of resetting and rebinding keys. The gameplay is still solid and a perfect blend between BF/COD and PS/Squad 44.
