One of the best games i have ever played, but do youself a favor and install the unofficial patch!

Great game but for god's sake don't trust the A.I.

Deus ex is a videogame developed by ion storm and pubblished by eidos in june 2000, the game combines a stealth-shooter game with rpg elements, you can become a stealth-hacker that can open any locked door or a non-lethal professional swimmer [/strike] don't put skill points in swimming or if you don't care about stealth why not use that assault rifle you found earlier? the choice is up to you and this freedom of how to approach a situation is still unrivalled and puts newer games that promises "immense freedom" to shame.
The soundtrack is very good and i sometime paused the game just to listen to some of the combat and ambiance themes.
As for the story the writers imagined a world in which every conspiracy theory is true (illuminati, templars even the face of the president of the united states on mars) but despire this simple premise the story is much deeper than what it looks like and talks about issues such as: inequalities, the power of corporations and a declining democracy in a world where terrorism and plagues are the norm.

The only flaws of this game are the ankward shooting which makes a stealth approach a much better experience and the graphics which are a bit outdated by today standards (if you really can't stand outdated graphics you can download some graphic mods that improves the look of the game but be careful not the pick the ones which change the levels).

I don't have anything else to say about this game so if you are looking for a game that aged like a fine wine than this is the game for you or if you are looking for a mindless-shooter than this game is not made for you.
