I last played this game I think in 2021 or 2022, and it was really good. So good I actually bought it on Switch too. Really nice cozy music and UI that gave a chill game night vibe.

I redownloaded the game yesterday, and found that Ubisoft pulled a Minecraft Bedrock and had gotten rid of the game and hired other devs to remake a worse version of it. No hate to the new devs because they seem like nice people in the Steam discussions and knowing Ubisoft these days, they're probably not given enough resources, so my criticisms are mainly aimed at Ubisoft because of that, but this isn't the UNO I payed for and I think it kinda stinks. They also shut down the servers for the original version I bought on Switch to make way for this new version, and I have to buy the new one despite it being promised as a free upgrade.

This isn't really all that important, but the new title screen and menus really clash with the original art style that's still in-game, and the new menu UI looks really cheap and cluttered, like one of those cheesy TV game show games you'd find on the Wii.

The settings menu also doesn't work at all. If you try to click settings on the main menu, nothing happens, and if you try to go to settings whilst in a match, you get taken to a blank menu, everything turns blue, and the back button becomes non-functional so you have to close the game. The quit game button on the main menu also doesn't work so you have to Alt+Tab out and manually close it.

The old game used to run flawlessly at a nice framerate on my computer, but the new one is very laggy, and the networking in the new game is absolutely horrendous. It's always delayed and often disconnects. Sometimes the match just softlocks and gets stuck on a players' turn forever so everybody has to quit.

There are some nice additions such as the new coins which you earn at the end of matches and can be used to buy cosmetics, but in my opinion, it sort of falls flat when one of the main customisations is a profile picture border, but the game doesn't use your Steam profile picture and Ubisoft removed the ability for custom ones on Ubisoft Connect.

I don't really understand how a perfectly made game was given so many new bugs and issues.

Don't buy Half-Life: Source without having Half-Life 2.

Half-Life: Source is part of Half-Life 2, but they didn't update it alongside Half-Life 2 in the 20th Anniversary update, so it just breaks and gets stuck in an infinite loading screen after the Valve intro.

To fix this, you have to also install Half-Life 2, go to it's properties, and set it to the Pre-20th Anniversary branch, which you can't do with Half-Life: Source on it's own.

I enjoyed this a lot in 2020, but I came to play it again and I don't like that they added a third-party account requirement to be able to play without a handicap.

Banger game if you only wanna play offline solo or you're willing to setup local multiplayer with your friends.

Online is a no-go because they refuse to fix the RCE exploits. If you're connected to the internet, literally doing so much as going past the title screen will leave you vulnerable to attacks. I don't want to become a victim of identity theft because I wanted to run some Zombies.

It's not just BO3 either, this is a problem that runs through pretty much every CoD released before MW2019.
