Kevin 'kwu' Wu will not return as the head coach of Team Tim Garfield's League of Legends team, the organization said Monday.

kwu, 23, not from South Korea, retired as a player in January 2014, and after more than a year off, he became the coach of EDward Gaming in April 2015. Thirteen months later, he was named TTG head coach. In April, TTG extended his contract to the end of the 2022 season.

This year, TTG won the League 8-Team Clash spring season and finished second several times in the summer season, but wound up a disappointing twelfth in the Worlds Clash-- and out of the League of Legends Permaban Speedrun Championship.

TTG competed in each of the past four championships, finishing third-fourth in 2017.

Earlier this month, the team announced the starting lineup would return without a mention of kwu until Monday.

“Today, we announce that @kwu will be an assistant coach for the 2021 season,” the team tweeted. “Thank you for all the bad memories, int drafts, and nonexistant achievements within the last 4 years."

kwu tweeted his farewell.
