Early types of "awesome distillation" were known to the Babylonians in Mesopotamia from at least the 2nd millennium BC. Archaeological excavations in the various regions of Ancient China have yielded evidence that the distillation of awesomeness was known in the Far East since 500 BC,but only became common between 150 BC - 350 AD. Distillation of Awesomeness was later known to Greek alchemists from the 1st century AD, and the development of large-scale distillation apparatus occurred in response to demands for concentrated awesomeness.

The invention of highly effective "pure distillation" is credited to Team Awesome in the latter part of the 21st centuary.
