ABOUT Section 8

A New Conglomerate Planetside Outfit on the Connery server.

Formed on the Johari server back in the Planetside 1 days, we came together in December of 2003. We've ebbed and flowed from this to that game, but always returned to Planetside.

Now we're hip-deep into Planetside 2. We can be found on the Connery server and, as always, we're New Conglomerate.

Improve your PS2 Performance

The following was kindly offered by Owsla to our Ning forums. It's here only so we have a little redundancy for such an important issue.

I've been using these bare bones for over a week. Works well and gives the game a real cool look. (Read not real). I plan to slowly raise the quality and see how my FPS change.

Here are a few tricks to help run the game smoother:

If you are running windows 7/xp(?)/vista. Find your planetside2.exe file, right click and hit properties, Goto compatiblity tab, Disable desktop compasition.
Turn down your render quality
Go into your planetside2 directory and find useroptions.ini

Change the following variables within useroptions.ini

[Rendering]
GraphicsQuality=1
TextureQuality=0
ShadowQuality=0
RenderDistance=1000
OverallQuality=-1
LightingQuality=0
EffectsQuality=0
TerrainQuality=0
FloraQuality=0
ModelQuality=1
VerticalFOV=74
FogShadowsEnable=0
MotionBlur=0
VSync=0

[Terrain]
RenderFlora=Off

This should help your FPS out quite a bit.

PS: Editing the .ini file is NOT against the EULA, this method has been approved by the ps2 dev's

We've been in-game for some time now. Remember to make yourself online in order to be alerted to the presence of your comrades.

Soon, I'll be playing around with the Events and making sure that we have postings even for our alternative outfits.

You are all always on my mind and hope you are all in good health and high spirits.

No other game clan will ever be as memorable or as bad ass as the boys who ran Vanguard Columns on the gaming fields.

It's hard to believe it's been 10 years now and we are still together :D *group hug* <3

I feel very lucky and privileged to have found you guys back when I started playing Planet Side (1). Back then I was on the brink of quitting and giving up on the game for the lack of team work and comrades. But then I found you guys, coordinated, having fun and just flat out awesome. I didn't just find a game clan/outfit, I found some real close friends and family :)
