A palace for only the best 2D and 2.5D games

Retro renassaince. The classics are coming back! Sometimes straight remakes, sometimes "spiritual successors." Sometimes entirely new concepts that surpass the old ones. I try to focus on old school fun rather than this new breed of "puzzle platformer" that seems to permeate Steam lately. No turn based games. No card deck building games. Absolutely no digital novels or "dating simulators." This list is for games that are actually fun. I may include the occasional 3D game if it fits my criteria of being "about fun" rather than "grinding."
