Moving your hand furiously up and down is not the solution. To successfully rake, you must hold back the WM1 urge in the rake. In that sense, you won't "waste" your crits and you can discharged a lethal critical hit to WRECK your opponents and blind them with a white flash, before their world goes dark. Have fun, and don't hurt them too bad.
