FAQ

Our curator group was created well after 1000 ports were published. If anything is missing, we either haven't gotten to reviewing it yet or we weren't aware Steam game data works with a port.

We don't dictate prices, and many ports require you to provide your own game data. We respect developers and don’t redistribute commercial content. If a port isn’t marked "ready to run," it’s because it needs user-supplied files.

We don’t take feature or port requests unless from developers. PortMaster is a community-driven project—if you want it, you can port it or contribute to it. We provide the tools and guides to help.

We love working with game developers and will show interest in potential ports.

Check our documentation and guides on the homepage. Contributions are always welcome, especially from those willing to test and maintain their ports. We list actively supported content.

If it’s published, works with Steam game assets, and follows the contribution guidelines, then yes!

This is by design. PortMaster exists to bring games to handheld devices, and we don’t like to show favoritism. Our policy is to recommend every compatible port no matter our opinion of it. By gifting a key, we’ll believe you understand and agree with our mission.

PortMaster is focused on Linux Arm-based retro handhelds like those of Anbernic, Powkiddy, and Retroid. Support may vary depending on the hardware.
