This is a group for the Games Programmers of Northumbria University starting in 2014. It's so we can all keep in touch with each other, whether it be to find people to play a game or if we have questions which one of us might be able to answer.

If you're one of us and you aren't in the group, ask someone to invite you, anyone will be able to.

WARNING: Creation Kit Has Been Updated - Will Probably Affect You

On Friday some groups in the second year found out that the Creation Kit had mangled some of their script files for their Skyrim mod. This is due to a new update that Bethesda rolled out, and didn't really announce to the public.

HOWEVER, the issues can be fixed. The instructions on how to fix the Creation Kit and your mod if it is currently using any scripts are further down in this post. Chris said to do this until Bethesda rolled out a fix for themselves, if they ever do.

How to fix the Creation Kit

1) Make a backup copy of all your source (.psc) and script (.pex) files, including fragments.

2) Make really sure that you have backed up those files.

3) Uninstall creation kit.

4) Delete the folder "Scripts" inside Data.

5) Reinstall Creation Kit

6) In the Data folder you now have a .rar file called Scripts.rar. Unpack it to the Data folder, retaining directory structure. You may merge the Dialogue Views folder if it asks.

7) You should now have a Scripts folder again. Copy your backed up scripts into it.

The scripts should now compile again. If this doesn't work, or if you want to look into the update and issues with it further, check the actual Creation Kit forums to see if anyone has a better fix or more information.

I thought I'd make you all aware just in case you have a seminar for the combined games project after this morning's slot. Chris is checking in on the group members which are present in the seminars, asking if people are working and why certain members aren't present if they're not there.

As a reminder, you should have probably:

*Had meetings with your group, all of it.
*Stored your files somewhere to make sure they aren't lost.
*Made some progress with the mod itself, you may not have to show him but he'll probably want to know what you've done so far.

If you haven't met up with your group, been skipping seminars or haven't made any significant progress with the mod, Chris may not be too happy.

I'm not sure, you might have better luck posting on that thing that Chris told us about on Tuesday. I'm not really sure if many people from the class look at htis page very often.
