Hey guys,

With the launch of 3.0 being a month away or so. We're going to start honing our flight skills. In order to not get raided by pirates relentlessly, we need to be able to defend ourselves. The training format will be the same as posted on the DoF forums.

Training Format:

Briefing and learning keybindings: 20 minutes give or take;
Follow the leader: 5 minutes;
Formations, call outs and squad battle: 30-45 minutes;
Debrief and recap on what to improve on; 10 minutes or less;
Play a match of pirate swarm/vanduul swarm for those that want to stay and play for fun.


Here's the explanation to each part:

Briefing and learning keybindings:
This part will be used for a rundown of what the training will contain and for both new and old pilots to learn the keybindings of the game, which keybindings work best for what situation i.e.: When to launch countermeasures, how to manage shields easily, which rebindings come in handy for the practice etc.
With enough repetition we will improve our pilotting skills together in preparation for future updates and to maybe even one day have a match with another organisation in Arena Commander.

Follow the leader:
This will be a short section of the training to learn the basics of flying and manouvering around asteroids and debris.

Formations, call outs and squad battle:
This part will be an important one, we're going to practice formations and flying as a unit. To make sure we don't crash into eachother and don't lose track of your squad. Communication is vital, depending on how many show up, in the ideal situation we'd have two or three players playing as the pirates, two single seater escort fighters and a team of one to three guys inside a multicrew cargo ship.
The goal of the pirates is to disable or destroy the escort fighters while keeping the cargohauler intact. You want that loot, pirates! If they succeed in doing so it is up to them to board the cargo hauler and take out the team of traders inside. The team of traders consists of two marines and one pilot. The pilot in this case is unarmed and the marines must protect him. If both marines die and the pilot surrenders, the pirates win.
The goal of the good guys is to take out the pirates, quite obviously. First step would be to spot the pirates on your radar, keep them in sights so you don't get ambushed. The good guys get a choice here: Send out one fighter to scout out the contacts or continue onwards as a unit. Once contact has been made, the fighters' goal is to take out the pirates by either disabling their ships or destroying them. The cargo hauler must listen to his fighters and is allowed to engage in combat with the pirates at his own risk. If the cargo hauler gets blown up the round will be decided by who is the last team standing. Both pirates and good guys will be in seperate TS channels for this practice. With the leader of each team keeping in touch through whispers on TS.

Debrief and recap on what to improve:
The last official part of the training will be to recap what we've done and tell eachother what each individual can improve on or did really well. We will also discuss how to improve the training format for future trainings. Keep in mind that format will change each week to keep things above all fun and interesting.

This will be a casual match of pirate/vanduul swarm for those that want to. No pressure, just fun. B)
