~on hiatus~ My little corner of the internet

1) Eliza - Easily one of the most emotionally effecting games I've played. The writing was superb, as was the voice acting. All of the characters were very believable and I ended up really caring about some of them. It's also one of the best portrayals of mental heatlh issues in video games that I've seen. Also, really nice to see a developer produce something so far from what they usually make.

2) Mutazione - A very, very close second. Again this was one that I really got emotionally invested in and will go down as one of the most memorable narrative games I've played. The characters are so well contstructed and each has a very clear personality. Your interactions with the characters and the world are so compelling, and there was a great balance between the main plotline and the character drama.

3) Whispers of a Machine - 2019 was evidently the year of the narrative game for me. WoaM absolutely blew me away with how much I enjoyed it. I didn't touch another game until I had played through this one three times! Again, very compelling characters and i really enjoyed the story. It's easily my favorite point and click game.

4) Ape Out - This was my earliest contender for game of the year. I had an absolute blast with this game. I wacked my way through the main story before taking on the hard mode and the arcade mode. This was one of those games that I couldn't stop thinking about, even when I wasn't playing it. The way the music is done in this game is absolutely awesome and the action is just ridiculously fun. Definitely the best Hotline Miami-like on the market.

5) Eastshade - Not something I would have expected to like as much as I did. While I wish they had stuck with the character design of Leaving Lyndow, this was a near perfect experience for me otherwise. It's super chill with a very unique premise. I loved wandering around the island finding new things, new places and new characters. All of the jobs were a lot of fun and it was just such a nice, positive experience.
