ABOUT Garrys Mod - Battlebots

GARRYS MOD BATTLEBOTS

For those of you that have heard of battlebots or robot wars, this is my interpretation of the rules for garrys mod.

There are 5 essential mods that need to be intalled. Smart snap, Total Mass tool, measuring stick tool, weight tool, and SProps workshop edition.

You need to install one map. The robot wars map by Robobowler.

There are going to be 6 weight classes. Custom arena is being made for antweight and beetleweigt robot matches. That doesnt mean dont make them, but it means that they may not be useful for a bit.

Very work in progress weight classes
Weight is always in kg and is represented by # - #
Size is always in meters, and is represented by #x#

Featherweight - 25
Lightweight - 50
Middleweight - 100
Heavyweight - 150

ALL BOTS HAVE THE SIZE LIMIT OF 4x4x4 METERS (It can have a .25 meter above 4 m in any direction, but NO more than that.

A walker robot is allowed to have 1.5 times the weight of a normal bot, but needs to stay within the size limits.

There can be no antipit devices.

No individual piece on the robot can weigh more than 100 kg with the exeption of spinners, which need to be less than 30% of the total robots weight.
Weapons on the robot must stay within the size limit when it is in starting position. If you have an axe that, when activated makes it 6 meters long, but is 4 meters before activation, that is acceptable.

NO PYROTECHNIC WEAPONS

NO PROJECTILE WEAPONS

Ropes ARE allowed, but the rope can not be more than 50 units long (dont go above 50 on the slider).

Rotating weapons may not be more than 30% of the robot mass.

Multibots are permited. If more than 50% of the multibot is immobilized or pitted, then the entire bot is considered immobile.

The "Keep Upright" options CANNOT be enabled. The goal is to immobilze your opponents machine.

Self righting mechanisms ARE allowed. There is a giant hole in the arena, so bots can be put in it. They can also be thrown over the side of the arena.

Other than this, the only limits are your imagination.

This ruleset is in progress, and will be modified as is neccesary for fair rules.

Lightweight walker max weight is 225. Forgot to change, but try to only change rules once a day.

I appologize for the constant rule weaking. I am doing liberal testing on how strong bots can logically be with the weight restrictions. For the most part, I am going to eliminate superheavyweight as a weight class entirely until me and other testers come up with an easy way to make them work, while still remaining within the size requirements.

Good Luck making an antweight or beetleweight bot. :steamhappy:
